  1. Off topic... here is the response i got back from Amidon and the question i posed to NROI.

If safe mode makes the first shot double action, it will be in line of the purpose of the ruling, as single action only is not allowed in Production.

    Subject: "Safety Position"???

page 75 states for Production "Handguns with external hammers must be fully decocked at the start signal"

Question: The Owners manual for the STI GP6 refers to a "Safety mode" where the hammer is not all the way down resting on the firing pin stop and not the firing pin itself. If we require a shooter to start from a 100% down postition and an accident occurs, such as a dropped gun with an AD and injuries, are we opening ourselves up for legal liability by not allowing him to have his gun in "safety mode" as per the manufacturer? The GP6 does not have a decocker as in the CZ noted above and must be manually brought down. The safety mode is what most people i beleive call "half cock" or "safe cock". Do we allow them to have the gun in "safety mode" or do we force them to have it "totally down" unless that is where the decocker brings it to???

  2. I have a S&W M&P 9 that my daughter shoots. She is 11 and started with it when she was 10. Its very controllable for her and the small grip insert is a huge plus! She is not really fast yet but she can go one for one on the plate rack at 10 yards. She has tried my GLocks and just turned up her nose. She likes my Shadow custom but its way too heavy for her to control in transitions.

here is a video of her from the first day with her M&P

  3. It will work even with the original barrel. I had to run qualification last month and i wanted to qual with my 20 that i keep in the door panel. I did not have any cheap 10mm so i just loaded it up with .40 cals. It ran the qualification without a hitch. NO FTE or FTF's. It was like shooting a cap gun though. So when i got home i loaded some 40 extra extra long and it worked perfectly.... Necessity.. the mother of all invention...

you shot 40sw in your Glock 20 10mm barrel and it ran smooth? I like the the bigger frame.

Yes... it ran just fine with .40 blazzer brass... don't think i would trust it 100%, but it did run for 48 straight rounds without a hiccup... was extremely accurate to boot. It was literally like shooting an airsoft.... so im assuming a lot of the gases were escaping out the chamber. I would not recommend it all the time... but in a pinch... it will work!

  5. OAL 1.14, not exactly short. 95% sure im not getting set back either.

If I was building high pressure, would my FPS be higher ? Im pretty much inline with the book range of powder charge and FPS.

OAL should be OK at 1.14.. Your FPS would not necessarily be higher, as the pressure can spike and dissipate before the bullet gets up to full speed and out the end of the barrel. Not sure what is happening though.

I once had a charge block that was acting screwy and every 6th or 7th round threw an extra few tenths grains in to the case.... It was causing the same thing... flat primers only every so often... not all the time... i finally figured it out by chrono shooting one at a time and inspecting the case and primer one at a time before i shot the next one. With mine though i did have the increase in FPS.... Good luck with figuring it out...

  6. Easy guys.... his question was "is this common at other clubs".

DD, I don't think this is very common, but certainly not something that is totally off the wall either. If it is an affiliated USPSA club then there is some room for concern. The bylaws the club has agreed to require that the matches be run in accordance with USPSA rules and regulations including Division standards and capacity limits. However, if the guys are registering as Limited Minor or Limited 10 minor for the purpose of a match score and choose to load down to division capacity for a production classification stage, I cant see where there would be much of an issue.

  7. I only shoot as fast as I can shoot accurately. If I get beat, then thats the way it goes. I try to average no more than 2 points down per stage on any match. Local National or international. If im shooting more than 2 points down average over the first few stages I know I need to slow down. If i'm 0 down over the first 3 stages I know I need to speed things up a bit. That is what works best for me... Its all about the individual,(this is an individual driven sport). Its different, for different people and there is no "right" or "perfect" answer. Find what works best for you and what helps you to enjoy the GAME.

  8. It was a rough match and I am not aware of anyone that felt confident in their performance. Tammie and Cliff shot solid matches (even with misses) and the results speak for themselves.

Congrats to Tammie "squad daughter" Bordwell on her Win!

*She is 1/3 the average age of "Squad WOOF" and calling her Squad Mom just does not sound right)

I meant to ask Duane and Bronson what the heck the "WOOF" on their hats meant???? Whats up with that???

  9. Well, since it's a sear spring, how about Sears?

    Sorry - bad joke!!

I'm amazed that Brownell's doesn't have it. However, in the interim, try a trick I've used for years (especially since my eyes went south). Get a strong magnet and sweep the floor with it - especially hard to see areas. It's saved my butt numerous times.

NOW THAT'S FUNNY.. I DONT CARE WHO YOU ARE!!! LMAO!!!

  10. I got to shoot the GP6 in a local match today... not bad... but not setting the world on fire either. I shot my M&P in production and the GP6 as a second gun in Limited Minor. I had 3 stovepipes today with the GP6 but i'm going to attribute that to my fault. I forgot the ammo that i had chrono'ed for the 4.5 inch GP6 and used some of the ammo from the 5in M&P. Most likely was not even making minor. I don't think there was enough energy to properly cycle the action. I do need to go back and put some more rounds on paper and adjust the sights as they seem a little off at anything over 25 yards. Hanging a little left. No issues with the SA or the DA. Nothing nothing noticeable have to check the times on the scores when they are posted.
