  1. Winchester has discontined my favorite 3 gun slug..the Winlite. Why I don't know since it seemed to be a good seller. Since it seems that all of their retailers are sold out, I'll need a good replacement. I see Winchester makes a Law Enforcement reduced recoil slug called "Ranger".

Has anybody had experience with these loads?

    Comparable to Winlite?

Anybody know of anybody that still has Winlite in stock so I can hoard it?

It is still listed on the web site and my distributor has it in stock. Where did you hear this?

  2. Probably not legal.

If it is a permanent modification to the gun, then it is more than likely not legal for SSP. Internal/external are subjective and that modification is visible without disassembling the gun. External by an objective criteria.

    Glocks are competitive in ESP.

  3. I have said it before, IDPA DMG, DOA.

Equipment is far too restrictive to interest anyone shooting 3-gun, and too restrictive to anyone who might want to shoot 3-gun. The IDPA rules are in that not too hot, not too cold, not just right, not enough fun zone.

When it gets down to it, how defensive is an AR?

IDPA really has a problem with the whole "Defensive" concept while moving toward a threat. That is another thread.

  4. I really like the UBR because I can adjust the length to the shooting position and to different uppers. The UBR has the side benefit of eliminating the SPRONG sound. While it is heavier than most, the weight is at your shoulder and I don't even notice it.

  5. Good link. I am wondering how the term "Loaded Gun" can have two very different definitions, though?

For safety issues “loaded gun means any ammo anywhere in the gun.”

For reloading issues “loaded gun means fully charged to division capacity, round in the chamber, slide forward, or cylinder closed.”

Those lists are just a summary of member ideas. Sentances you listed above are seperate people with opposing opinions to the verbiage they want to see in the book. Tiger team will sift through all the member posts and hopefully we will get a much better constructed book in 2017 lol. Fingers crossed.

I understand they plan to beat your estimate by three years. :surprise:

  6. I shot 55 gr today at FNH because it didn't matter, and it my usual round.

Tomorrow, I plan on shooting 75 gr because the winds are forcast to around 15 mph and we are shooting the longer range targets. The verticle trajectory of the two rounds to 350 yds is too similar to worry about. The drift difference at 350 yds with a 15 mph full value wind is about 5". I have the 75 gr bullets and there is no down side to using them. They may help, they will not hurt.

    YMMV

  7. I have QD sling attachments on my AR. My Benelli M2 has a simple hole in the bottom of the stock, like a swivel stud, to attach a sling ring. So, does anybody make an adapter that goes through the hole in a swivel stud but lets me plug a QD sling ring into it?

The point being I'd like one system that lets me move my sling from rifle to shotgun, since (at least so far!) I haven't seen a course of fire that would require me to have both long guns slung at the same time...

I have this on the stock of my shotgun. It has a backing piece and attaches with two screws.

  8. I will only shoot matches where the probability of a successful finish qualifying for a match bump is likely. Beating five or eight shooters is not an accomplishment.

To the point, I have to be convinced that all SOs and competitors will shoot the same COF. I have seen this done as close to perfection as possible. I have also seen it not turn out so well.

A match that lacks a quality of staff and organization will probably not see me twice, and certainly not three times.

My criteria for working matches is even more restrictive.

  9. Our local 3-gun uses Horner scoring and one A/B or two anywhere on paper.

We felt it makes long shots matter and multiple guns on a stage rewarded appropriately while allowing for some hosing.

That's my favorite - and I beleive Texas MultiGun Championship 2011 used that method.

Simple IMGA 1A-B, 2 Anywhere, and Horner scoring to give more weight to multiple gun stages and stiff penalties on long distance targets to keep people from gaming them.

I like this idea a lot!!

I should add that we do not have FTE or FTN. The paper points are either zero penalty seconds, six seconds, eight seconds or ten seconds. Our attempt was to make the system as easy to manage as possible. Obviously, an A/B or two on paper is zero.

Steel and clays are 5 seconds and long range (over 100 yds) is 15 seconds. We shoot to 300 yds. We have not had a slug shot over 100 yds, yet.

    Procedurals are 10 seconds each.

There is a 60 second penalty available for special occassions.

    Sorry-Edit to add

No Shoots are 10 seconds per hit.

    Shoot throughs count.

  10. I have a VTAC TRX Extreme 13" and really like it. You can feel the warmth coming off the barrel, but it doesn't get hot. I like the slots rather than holes to help keep my fingers away from the barrel. The diameter is perfect. I took the short rail pieces off as soon as I got it. I do have a fold down sight set on it and a QD sling attachment on the top rail.
