  1. Welcome to Member Services

    IDPA Membership Management System

We hope you take a moment to explore our new vastly improved and updated website. Thanks to our great partners at Rangelog, who developed the new site, we are able to bring you many new features that will make your IDPA experience more enjoyable and interactive. Besides providing information on your classification, upcoming matches and past match results, the new site provides much more information. You can create your own personal profile that your friends can view, including sponsor info, a bio, personal photos and more. You can also track your match results on your personal scores page, bookmark your favorite clubs, friends and even matches that are of interest to you.

    Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.

I guess we can look forward more spam blasts like today.

    I'm glad they hired pros.

Now, where are those old match results?

  2. I am looking forward to step 3.

I just hope they don't do it on 4/1.

In any event, there should be no delay in posting it since Bill via Joyce has been directing it from the outset, assuming he still cares.

  3. The case for my eye pro fell out of my bag. I went back to the stage where it happened within 10 minutes. I looked, asked around, nothing. I found out a week later someone was asking who lost this eye pro case? Since no one piped up, they took it home. Maybe not stolen, but it wasn't theirs and they knew it. The Match Director and office staff knew I was looking for it.

I don't know who it was, but I know they were out of town SOs for IDPA Nationals.

  4. I'm waiting to see if the rule book will entice me back.

    Me too, expired in September

    Same here.

    ETA

I can't read the linked document.

It would seem to be a good idea if that sort of information was posted somewhere for potential members to read. I hear about emails but can never find them on the site. All I find is "corporate speak" in the form of a "blog."

  5. 3 gun doesn't need classifications, presidents, or mayors.

I have come to the conclusion that it doesn't need a TV show either. There is a show because 3 gun is an interesting and growing form of competition. Not the reverse.

When the network doesn't need or want the programming, or the sponsorship goes away, so will the show. 3 gun will be doing just fine.

Without the show, there will be no need for divisions. Without divisions, there will be no need for classifications.

I shoot 3 gun because it is fun, I like to challenge myself, shoot with my friends, and try to improve. I know where I stand and I don't need to pay someone to quantify it.

  6. Would slightly taking the square sharp edge off a mag release be considerd a external mod in ssp? I mean nothing major, just enhanced user wear.

Well, if you can stipple the backstrap on an M&P because it is replaceable . . . . .

  7. Trigger mods that would change the external appearance of the gun would not be legal (For example, a kit that removes the slack).

Have you got a reference for that?

    Rule book - p20

    Permitted mods - #4

    Excluded mods - #1

The rule book is your friend but also look at the Addendums too.

I am very familiar with the rule book. The part of the quote that confuses me is-

"(For example, a kit that removes the slack)."

I included the first part of the sentance for context.

"Slack" would not seem to have anything to do with appearance.

Additionally, with the now "legal" practice of stippling M&P backstraps "because they are removeable" calls into question any limitation on modifcations to removeable parts.

If I can take my magwell off and restore the gun to stock, it should be legal by logical application of the M&P rule.

That, is the problem with informal/formal rulings, "clarificaitons" that are issued and revoked without clarification of the record.

When it shows up in the printed rule book, it becomes a rule.

There are too many voices of what is and isn't legal and that needs to be fixed.

I really am looking forward to the new and improved rule book. My membership expired in September.

  8. I have heard rumors about who some of the team members are and proposals that seem to have wide spread support. I have also heard some absurd rumors from people trying to stir the pot.

All I know is, when the new rules are announced, I will consider renewing my membership. Until then, nope.

  9. I hate going to a match and being handed a bag full of sponsor labeled items that were made in China, or any other country. I just received eight items from a match sponsor and seven of them were made in China.

You would think that the organizations that do this stuff would think a little more about spending their money where their target market lives.

  10. Remember that a round aimed upward can travel a couple of miles and still kill on impact.

I would like to see some data on that.

According to JBM, the maximum range of a 115 gr 9mm, which I would assume would travel the farthest, is 1.2 miles when fired at 35 degrees.

    21.5 seconds later:

The terminal angle is 66.7 degrees.

The terminal velocity is 290 ft/sec.

Terminal energy is 21 ft lbs.

I have been hit by a full size, intact 9mm off of a backstop in the chest, from about 60 feet round trip. It hurt, it left a mark, I got a great souvenier.

    Fatal? Hardly.

Now, is there a risk of a round over a berm? Absolutely. Forcing unnatural movements to fix the problem will likely result in more ADs, not fewer. I shot a match at a range that had this sort of rule once.
