  1. Zen isn`t a religion. The formation of religion is based on the recognition of the existence of an entity transcendent to the forces of nature or man. I`ve always maintained that Zen is the experience of discovering one's "true self" and then trying to personify that found self. The object of Zen is ultimately the human "I" and nothing else. I`m a parishioner of portland oregon churches for several years now, I came there with a problem that was weighing me down and zen didn't help me deal with it. However, after talking to the pastor, I felt better from the first meeting.
