I wonder if they stopped doing hard chrome… they don’t offer it on their website

The gentleman who did their hard chrome passed away. I don't believe they have a new source.

Any of you cool guys hard chrome your DWX?

Dont threaten me with a good time.

I had Impact Machine hard chrome my TSO & I absolutely love it. I could see myself eventually getting the DWX hard chromed as well.

  3. Welp, since I'm a normal human being & have to work, Springfield told me I needed to have a FFL ship the Prodigy there & back. Fine, whatever. I arranged this past Monday to have a LGS send it in for the warranty work. They called me back yesterday and said they cleaned & test fired it & were giving it back to me. I'm sorry, but wtf? I didn't ask for them to clean & test fire. I asked them to ship it.

Anyway, I have it back in my possession now. I'm kind of over it at this point. The LGS claims Springfield told them it would break in & they wouldn't authorize the return. This after they told me directly that they would have given me the return label if I would have said I was home.

I wanted to learn the 2011 platform with it, but now I don't know. Maybe I'll just skip working on it & save for a Priest or an Atlas.

On it's way back to me so roughly 2-3 weeks. Honestly, it felt like a while, but that's pretty good.

    They have listed:

    Inspect pistol

    Reamed chamber

    Recut & polished barrel ramp

    Polished chamber

    Refit barrel

    Tuned extractor

    Safety checked & tested

Hopefully that fixes the issues I was having with failure to extract and light strikes.

2-3 weeks sounds good to me. I finally got mine sent off Monday, so hoping it's around the same time frame.

Send it to Springfield and get it fixed under warranty. That way you'll know it works before you start changing stuff, and that if it doesn't work you'll know it's what you changed. My factory mags have worked fine, but if I was going to buy ready to go mags I would get atlas or if I wanted to spend a little more and get the extra round mbxs

Fair point on sending it in first.

How thick is the coating on the bottom of the slide rails? Is it starting to wear? Does the slide cycle smoothly on the frame?

The coating doesn't seem too thick & is showing early wear. The slide does hang up on the disconnector.

  7. I acquired a reasonably priced used 4.25" Prodigy and its a jam-o-matic. Lots of extraction issues, stovepipes, etc. My plan was to use it to learn the 2011 platform and do upgrades along the way. I ordered the EGW Practical Extractor and will look at aftermarket magazines. Maybe MBX? Ultimately, I'd like it to be my backup LO gun to my DWX. I appreciate any feedback or advice!

Has anyone bought a Magwell and tested it with the factory basepads? I can confirm the ArmoryCraft one does not work with factory pads

As you've been told elsewhere, no. Sorry the facts make you sad.

anyways, has anyone come out with a thumb rest yet? Hoping for something I don’t have to drill and tap the frame for.

The only thing I've seen you don't have to drill & tap for is a pic rail mounted thumb rest

Also, just a heads up, the factory mag bases wont work with that mag well. It might seem like they are seating, but the gun wont strip rounds.

I got Henning mag extensions for all my mags, so no worries there.

And my $1600 Shadow 2 Orange has zero play, not sure how this applies to my question.  I was asking to see if this is normal or if this is a bad example.

The S2O has a hand fitted slide, so... Of course it has a tighter fit 🙄

I looked at a DWX at my local gun store and notice it a fair amount of play between the slide and frame at the muzzle.  Is this normal?  My Parrot has some play here also, but not as much.

The Parrot is a $3000 gun & the DWX is a $2000 gun. Want no play? Spend more.

I have this same A01 LD LTD. I love it. I had a stock DWX recently and took my A01, the DWX, my Accushadow2 and my Atlas Titan to get a feel for how the DWX compared. I sold DWX this week. It's a good gun but it's just not at the level of accuracy and speed of the others. I knew the DWX would just be the step child. Every one of the others just smoked it.

You're seriously comparing a couple $4k guns and one with a CZC trigger job to something bone stock? Lol, okay then...

  14. Agree with all that has been posted. I run Grams + CZC bases. Had MBX been available when I got mine, I would have gone that route instead. Probably will go MBX when I need to replace existing mags or get more.

I've got a TSO, TS2 Green cut for an optic and S2 OR. I use the S2 OR for dynamic shooting; I find it more nimble than the heavier/bulkier TS2 (even tho I love it). That said, I just got a Bul SAS II and damn, I'd choose that over any of my CZs, I think, at least from my initial testing of it (I know - completely different beast and cost point but I'm sorta blown away by it - terrific fit and finish, great trigger, light but still very easy to control).

I took a hard look at the Bul offerings before buying the DWX. A Bul is still on my wishlist for sure.
