Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Any chance, guys who cannot get out of work shoot the match on Sat/Sun? Thanks
  2. I recently got a new Benelli M2 and had some work done on it by Palmetto Arms. As I have started to shoot it I have had a re-occurring problem. A round will feed about a fifth of the way into the chamber, then stop. The immediate action to remedy the problem is to pull back approx 1/4-1/2" on the bolt and then let it go forward. This problem has occurred with every type of load I have run through the gun (10 factory loads). Initially I thought the gun was either dirty or needed to be broken in. After upwards of 250rds the gun still continues to have this style of failure to feed about once every 10 rds. It has malfunctioned at 3 gun matches and during range days. It almost seems like there is a slight lip on the inside of the barrel that catches the round and prevents it from feeding.Any insights or remedies to fix this problem are greatly appreciated.
  3. Is there any projected round count for this event? Also will there be any email confirmation or online roster stating whose applications have been received and are registered for the competition? Thanks
  4. Powder I am using is a ball powder similar to BLC2. Tried pausing at the top of the stroke to allow powder to fall, and have tried tapping the powder die. Neither worked. Powder bar is moving from its fully closed position at the top of the stroke, to if you are facing the press the far left side of the powder bar is flush with the housing for the powder die when the lever is at the bottom of its stroke. Thanks
  5. I recently bought a new 550B to reload 7.62x51. I began to calibrate the how much powder per charge when I noticed the problem. Each time a case is filled, while the case is being removed from the powder die powder will trickle out of it. Its getting to the point where after 30 or so rounds there was a a decent amount of powder all over the machine. With this the charges the machine was throwing were not consistent. I would get several throws of 43.4-43.7grns then out of no where would have several throws of 45.8-46.1 then back to the 43 grain range. I am using WC846 powder. I put witness marks on the powder bar to ensure it is resetting to the same point each time, which it is. Any idea on a fix? Thanks
  6. Is any one here taking part in Competition Dynamic's 24hr Sniper Adventure Challenge. Looks like it involves precision rifle, carbine, pistol and alot of guts.
  7. I am a believer in light gear in every aspect of life. However I tend to think guys get to too wrapped around making things light when they dont need to. For instance what is heavy to me, is light to someone else. What is light to me might be heavy to someone else. What you need to do is look at your rifle and ask if its weight has ever inhibited you, slowed you down or broke you off. If you answer yes to that, then start looking at weight. A quick way to cut weight off weapons/gear is to take an honest assesment of everything you have on there. If you dont need it, take it off.
  8. Some bite more than others. Some people dislike them more than others. The biggest problem with comps that most people do not think about is the amount of crap they kick up. Shooting in unconvential positions such as under barricades some comps will prove terrible. In dry environments they will kick up huge amounts of dirt and debris which can obscure the target and limit the speed you can engage the target. In wet/muddy settings they almost always seem to spray eye pro/optics with mud. Shooting them in enclosed areas such as cars usually produces a very large amount of dust and glass in the air. While in the open they might be annoying but tolerable to your partners/fellow shooters. You move into confined areas like a structure or hallways and some comps become tooth shakingly unbearable to the point it is no longer annoying but it actually effects those around you. Some comps that do a decent job of not being a blue falcon are those made by sure fire and battle comp. The noveske muzzle device does little for recoil however it redirects all the gas and stuff forward. its nice for sticking through windows.
  9. Ive always gone with the quicker my sights are in my sight line, the longer they stay there, the quicker I can track them, the quicker I put rounds down range. For me, no matter where the gun starts, its getting pushed out straight at eye level. PJ
  10. Visualization and playing everything out in my head before hand, over and over again. This has helped with all aspects of my shooting both in and out of matches. The book "Mind Gym" (I cant remember the author) is an awesome read about the power of positive thinking. PJ
