Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I'll have to try the Blazer. I recently picked up a conversion for a P226. It has been very picky with ammo. I'm getting horrible reliability with Federal Bulk (525box, 36gr HP) and Auto Match. Less than 50% reliability, almost all failure to extract with the spent casing remaining in the chamber. Remington Golden Bullets have performed much better at a couple failures every few magazines. SIG Customer Service only suggestion was that I should be using Mini-Mags. I don't know much about extraction failures, but does anyone have any idea why it would fail like this? (Hope you don't mind me piggybacking on your thread.)
  2. Makes a lot more sense to use a "conversion kit" than a whole different gun - same grip, same trigger, etc. Maybe I'll give that a try sometime. Calling shots is calling shots. It's just this novice's hypothesis that the awareness required for shot calling might be learned quicker and cheaper with a .22. any .22. I can then spend the saved time and money to reinforce those skills before transferring it to the 'real' gun. YMMV. Cheers. David.
  3. Just picked up a conversion kit for my SIG. At this point, it's about learning to see the sights lift and then learning to call shots. Im Not sure why I have more ego on the line when I'm shooting center figure, but it is a factor. At any rate, I'm more relaxed shooting .22 and therefore, according to my novice hypothesis, more likely to see front sight lift. I blew through over a thousand rounds of 9mm and never saw the sight lift once. By the end of my first day under the .22, I was seeing it lift consistently. I closed out the session with 9, and was still seeing it lift. I don't know how it helps with grip, stance or manipulations. I don't really care. Even if all it does is help me develop the ability to call shots, I'll consider it an opportunity cost bargain. Cheers, D
  4. I have not been able to get the Iphone 4s Surefire app to reliably pick up dry fire strikes. May just use it as a par time while i save for the real deal.
  5. I think the average, even weak, person has sufficient grip strength for pistol shooting. I certainly do. What else are we looking to develop while building grip squeezing strength? The ability to isolate hand squeezing pressure without tightening up other arm, back, neck and abdominal muscles? wrist and trigger finger dexterity while at max grip?
