Moving to Virginia school me plz….
beltfedgoodness posted a topic in Travel, Locations, Ranges, etc.
Hello all, so my wife and I are sick of 5months of cold crap, we are headed to Virginia, Charlottesville area-ish. My question for those of you that are familiar; what local ranges have USPSA and how many are around my area? I’ve played with practiscore and I’m not seeing much unless I’m missing something? to leaving half of your reloading kit behind. Moved to Phoenix to take on a new job. I packed up my car with my "can't live without it" goods, including, I thought, my reloading setup. Uhh, nope. When I started to set it up, I realized that my dies, assmbled toolheads, and conversions are still sitting in a box in MO, waiting to be moved. So how does that EVER have a bright side? Having 2 .45 acp pistol setups, one that shoots reduced load SWC's very well and the other that does not - now I get to have two complete setups instead of bouncing back and forth. Just ordered another deluxe toolhead conversion, die set, and caliber conversion via Brian. I'll be rockin' out stouter reloads for my XD in no time!

I "land" in Phoenix next Tuesday to do my pre-employment testing and some training. The biggest goal is to find somewhere to live - FAST. Driven by what I can find, and what I can afford until our other properties are sold and/or occupied, I've narrowed my search down to a few areas. Sun City/Grand/West Surprise El Mirage Glendale Avondale I'm will be working at the intersection of 101/17, if that makes a difference. The goal is to have a reasonable commute, less than roughly 15 miles and to not live in a war zone. Are these reasonable communities for a bluish-white collar worker to reside? Any advice is appreciated. Pretty pumped about the opportunities to get involved in steel and action pistol even as a novice at 59 too. I don't expect to win, I expect to learn and improve. I've had a few "tactical" shotguns in the past with side saddles, speedfeed stocks, etc but I haven't seen this in competition very much and have generally taken that as a "clue"... same goes for pistol grips (but that's another topic). When I first started 3G last year I bought an 8rd velcro sidesaddle for the left of my receiver (http://3gungear.corecommerce.com/8-Shell-Side-Saddle-p23.html) and a 2rd strap on (http://3gungear.corecommerce.com/Shotgungear/Forend-Carrier/Slide-Loc-2-Pac-p22.html) that I've positioned near my ejection port. Fully loaded I have 12rds in the tube + 8rds on the sidesaddle + 2rds on the strap on + 1 in the chamber = 23rds in or on the gun. I was thinking about adding a "match saver" to have another shell available on the gun, when I realized that since I have gotten better at the load 2 and load 4, I'm considerably faster loading from my belt than I ever was taking them from the sidesaddle... and for the past match or two I haven't really bothered with the ammo on my gun... I load the velcro at the beginning of the match and unload it at the end. So now that I realize this, what's the point of having all that ammo on my gun...? A couple questions - 1. Has anyone else gone through this transition? 2. Should I simplify my shotgun loadout or is there a reason to leave it as is? It's all easy on/easy off velcro stuff... 3. Should I bother with the "match saver" device?
