Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Rather than driving the 1.5 hours back and forth to home for the WS Single Stack match at Rio in November, I am thinking of taking my travel trailer down and spending the weekend. Question is, where is a good place to stay? Anyone here RV'd to a match at Rio? Suggestions for a RV park nearby? I've considered the Phon D Sutton or Coon Bluff, but am a bit reluctant to leave the trailer there unattended while at the range. There are probably hundreds of RV parks in the Rio/Mesa area, but not having used any, I have no idea which ones to consider... any assistance would be greatly appreaciated!
  2. Join us Saturday, September 5th, for the Payson Practical Pistol ALL CLASSIFIER match, at the Tonto Rim Sports Club. We will be shooting a 6-stage all classifier match beginning at 9:00 a.m. The TRSC's Jim Jones Shooting Range is located 2 miles south of Payson, AZ, on Hiway 87, between mileposts 248 and 249. Look for the 'Jim Jones Shooting Range' signs. Match fee is $20 for non-TRSC members; juniors 18 and under and active military shoot free. All scores will be reported to USPSA, so you can your initial classification in a single match, or, add a classification for a new division. You may shoot Open, Limited, Limited 10, Production, Single Stack or Revolver. You may shoot the match with two different guns if you wish; the second run will be an additional $5 and will be shot after you complete the first. We will be shooting the following USPSA Classifiers: 06-05 Fluffy's Revenge 2 (8 rounds, Comstock) 09-06 Quad Standards 2 (24 rounds, Fixed Time) 09-14 Eye Of The Tiger (6 rounds, Virginia) 99-47 Triple Choice (15 rounds, Virginia) 99-57 Bookout's Boogie (12 rounds,Comstock) 99-59 Lazy Man Standards (24 rounds, Virginia) Pre-registration is open and available at Practiscore.com - Search for 'Payson' - or click here for the direct link: https://clubs.practiscore.com/payson-practical-pistol-all-classifier-match-sep-5-2015/register Any questions, please email 1911gatekeeper@gmail.com. We have room for 50 shooters, so we hope to see you all at the range on Sept 5!
  3. a Wilson Combat 'Bulletproof' extractor. The tip broke off... Finished the match with my carry gun - Colt Lightweight Commander - which was in the range bag. Have had fiber optic fall out of the Dawson front sight... and yes, you can use the hole to sight thru, but it is not as good! I now carry spare FO and a lighter. (WC replaced the extractor for free, no questions asked)
  4. Interesting. When I asked him about it, he said, "helps control recoil..." Thanks for all the responses
  5. At a 'Fun Match' last weekend (not a USPSA affiliated match or club) a competitor shooting Single Stack had a piece of 'skateboard' tape on the frame of the 1911, where his weak hand/support thumb lands. About where a '*thumb rest [generic]*' would be on an Open gun. I'm pretty sure that for USPSA, that is illegal, according to Appendix D5, item 22: "•External modifications or features such as weights or devices to control or reduce recoil (such as, but not limited to, thumb rests or components which could be used as such)." Grip tape or skateboard tape is not specifically mentioned in Appendix D5, but I think that covers it... Same item, same number, under Limited-10 rules, in the event he was using the 1911 in LTD10, right? (Edited to add: interesting, that I typed "g*s pedal" and the software changed it to *thumb rest [generic]* How does that happen?)
  6. I had trouble finding it, aslo... it's not under Max Michel, but you can find it you search for "Double-Alpha Academy BV"
  7. Has anyone here used 123Design (http://www.123dapp.com/design) for Stage Design? I just read an article that says it is 'simpler and easier to use than sketchup'
  8. I'm confused. I completed the registration in the first 2 minutes... got 2 emails: first saying payment accepted, the second showing I am registered, and a link directing me to my personal match management page, which at the bottom says: "Approval Info We have not approved you to shoot yet. You will receive an email when you have been approved." Says nothing about being waitlisted... or, does the 'not yet approved' mean 'waitlisted'?
  9. OK, finally got to shoot this drill... PM on the way!
  10. It was! Frustrating fun! One of our best shooters took 51 rounds for 17 plates. He's gonna start practicing more weak hand! hahahaha
  11. We shot this in a practice match, and it was so much fun, we want to use it in a regular match, but are not sure... On the left we have a 6-plate rack. In the center, the Texas Star. On the right, another 6-plate rack. From Box A, in the center, the Star is shot free style; one plate rack strong-hand only; one plate rack weak-hand only....your choice. It is legal to specify a strong-hand array and a weak-hand array, right?
  12. <euxx> and <jdphotoguy> You are both right! I just found that by myself, accidentally. Apparently when PS updated, the divisions loaded was erased. I noticed the 'Edit Divisions' link at the bottom of the screen -- eureka! They have always been defined when we add a new match, so I had not noticed that link before. All is OK, now... we can shoot tomorrow!
  13. jcwren: the error was mine... used passive voice. I should have said "I updated them yesterday"
  14. jcwren: far as I can tell, auto-update is not on... I had to update PS after I saw the post here about v 1.2.22
