Help with .38 Super Load

Super Shooter

Recommended Posts

Recently purhcased a Kimber Target in .38 Super. Have experimented with SR 7625 and W231 with MG 124 FMJ. Last week picked up a lb. of 4756. Lookling for starting loads for all three powders in this limited production gun.

I use 8.9 of 4756 with a MG 124 CMJ for major. OAL is 1.235"

You will find some light loads on the .38 Super IPSC Loads List at IPSC Loads Lists.

Note that the majority of the loads are IPSC Major or above (old 175 power factor), but the power factor is listed for each of the loads described.

If you are after IPSC 125pf loads using the 124gr FMJ start at 4.5grains 231 and work up to about 4.8grains. You may need to change the 14lb recoil spring down a couple of pounds to get reliability at 127-130pf.

A freind just bought one this week and he is using Zero 115gr JHP and 5.0gr N320 a little hotter than needed but sure are accurate at 50Y. All in the A zone.
