phara
In USPSA in the Revolver Division there is a rule that says you must shoot a minimum of 357 to make major. However, there is no such restriction in IPSC. Here's the thread: http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?...=ST&f=27&t=8261 It also has some additional info on other divisions as related to the 38 special. One interesting thing that came out of this was that in USPSA and in IPSC there is no restriction against shooting 38 special as major power factor in the Open division. I think Bubber already knew this but I sure didn't! I think I'll give it a try and see how my elbows react! Paul
Patrick Sweeney
Actually, it isn't that hard to make Major in a .38 Spl case. A 180 @ 916 or a 158 @ 1044 makes it. Alliant even has loading data that makes it. It's making a Pin load in a .38 case that gets scary.
Norm Lee
230 gr WC, .38 spl case, 900 fps 207 PF good for pins! Cheers, Norm
Bill Sahlberg
In open class anything goes, .38 Special or .38 Colt Short, as long as it chronos at 165pf you ARE major. Now if you are shooting Revolver division the case MUST be stamped .357 but there is no restiction on case length....yet. Shorten a headstamped .357 case and make 165 pf you are now legal. If you shoot any other case not marked .357 you wil be shooting minor. Bill Sahlberg L1283
