Putty
I have thought about why I enjoy practical shooting, what makes a great shooter and/or those moments (that can be fleeting) when the sum of our shooting experiences culminates in a flawless run, where everything was easy and at the end, strangely fufilling. By action, in the shooting game, we are forced into presence, and we briefly move out of thought (mind) processes and emotional clutter and fall into presence. We are relieved from the excess of emotion by that action. Ego, as is its want to define us, is rendered sublime and we are free to perform. Especially true for me whose mind is in constant motion. Whether knowingly or by design, Brian somewhat described it best when iterating a process for practice. Where you place your attention on whatever it is you want to do (grip, sites etc.) but only that aspect at that particular moment. What better way to practice for the actuality of a match, where those disparate pieces of focused attention/presence combine to perform as one.
