external mods to a production gun?

I am guessing that this topic has been touched on here before, but I'll ask anyhow. I understand the USPSA prohibition on most external mods for a production gun. Would an aftermarket hammer violate this rule, or is it part of the allowable work to improve trigger function. CZ's are commony fitted with competition hammers. This is allowed because they are available through the custom shop. If a similar hammer were available through a company with no factory affiliation, would it be legal?? If somebody tooled up to offer a similar product for a Sig or Beretta, could we use it?

It would have to be available on a factory firearm.

Correct. The CZ hammer is a factory option part.

An example of a non-factory aftermarket part would be the aftermarket Beretta "speed bump trigger" - it was never offered by Beretta in the US or Italy and was not permitted in Production after review by Amidon.
