Dry firing in Prone Position

Recommended Posts

I don't have much experience shooting prone so I'm trying to practice it on my dry fire range. My dry fire area is in my basement and is around 10-15 yds in length. I"m assuming that most prone positions are prone because they are long shots...so I would like to simulate around 20 yd shots.

Dry firing from around 12 yds....what size should the target be and how far off the ground to simulate a 20 yd shot???

To be honest I wouldn't worry so much about recreating what the actual target would look like. Just put a spot on the wall and practice getting into the prone position effectively which is all you can really do in dry fire.

Live fire from the prone position has such a different feel that I would just focus on refining the economy of motion of getting into that position.
