What kind of gear

I am interesed in starting to shoot 3 gun matches, never been to one, I shoot open class pistols, what kind of rifle and shot gun would I need to shoot I guess it would be open division, or would it tactical optics division, help

Short answer - do a search here for open rifles and open shotguns. You'll get the phone book, in a manner of speaking.

Longer answer - Open Rifle - 18" JP or DPMS or Benny Hill or [insert any other reliable mfg] AR in .223, a low power variable scope (Leupold, IOR, Trijicon, whatever Benny says is good this minute as the main sight and a unmagnifed red dot at 1:30 as a close range secondary. Bipod okay, too. JP tank brake, Benny's Rolling Thunder, or Alex Wakal's F1 compensator.

Shotgun - Benelli M1/M2 or Remington 1100/11-87 that holds 11+1, speedloaders and maybe a low mount Doctor or similar red dot sight.
