chp5
STI Recoil Master - any feedback? I just recieved my .40 Edge yesterday. It shipped from the factory with STI's new Recoil Master guide rod / recoil spring combo. Has anyone used the Recoil Master? Feedback? Thanks. Protagonist
There are several posts already on the forum concerning the RM. Do a search and you should find a wealth of comments. I was told by Dave Skinner of STI that I needed several rounds (1000) through the gun to fully appreciate the RM. I have done so, and am pleased with the performance. However, I have had two problems. Firstly, it hammered the flange on the reverse plug after several hundred rounds, and caused it to flare by several thousanths. No apparent damage to the tunnel in the frame. I chucked it up, turned it down, and have had no further problems. Secondly, when I need the comfort of a 20-round load in my 141 mm. mag, it sometimes won't strip that first round properly, due to the lightness of the spring. mquitos
Personally, I think the RM has been of great help.... since I use it on a .45. But for .40's... well..... maybe you'd feel the difference after a thousand rounds.
