InTheBlack
The topic on using Slide Glide on the mainspring is interesting. But some guns - like the HK - have an "open" frame such that the mainspring is visible when you look inside the magwell. Does anyone know if it would be possible to fashion some sort of a plate to block that, so the goo doesn't get on the mags or pick up dirt? Without taking one apart I dunno if there is space in there to maybe make a plate with some tabs bent 90 degrees and friction fit or superglue it in place or something. Jeffro
In the Black, I was the one who posted originally about using "Slide-Glide" on the mainspring and in the mainspring housing, but I cannot help you, as I primarily shoot 1911s/(and clones) and Hi-Powers. I am sure that someone here can help. Sorry. Jeff
Tuner-1911
Might be better to just swap it out. They're pretty cheap. Brownell's has Masen housings for about 18 bucks, and while I know that Masen puts out some pretty shoddy parts, their mainspring housings seem to be okay...At least the 4 that I have are. They can be had in blue or stainless...Arched or flat...Checkered or serrated, or any combination thereof. Cheers! Tuner
2alpha
Will a 1911 ms housing fit a HK? I bet the HK needs that slot for spring clearance, I can't imagine them leaving it in if not.
Tuner-1911
Will a 1911 ms housing fit a HK? Whoops! Part of my problem is that I read these things in the wee hours before I get enough coffee down my neck to get the brain online... The other part is that I've got this one track 1911 mind... Cheers!
