Trade Up To Jp-15?

I am running a DPMS 20" flattop w/BC comp. and RRA two stage trigger. Hogue free float tube is the only other option on the rifle.

Shoots great and has never malfunctioned. A friend borrowed it for his first 3-gun shoot and now wants to purchase it from me. I have found a replacement in a used (less than 1000 rounds) JP-15 with 20" barrel, BC comp., JP trigger, JP adjustable gas block, all in excellent shape. $1300.00 for the used JP-15.

In your expert opinion. Should I give a new shooter a chance at a known rifle, then take the chance on trading up to a JP? I have no complaints on my DPMS, but I have got to say the JP really looks nice. I am also curious about the adjustable gas block, and if it will really assist in recoil control or not.

Any thought appreciated.

I'd buy the JP and keep the DPMS.

A - You get to add another rifle to the family.

B - You don't give up a rifle that you know and know that runs!

Seriously though if it's a financial issue, then I'd trade up. Why not? It's a win-win all around. As for the gas block, it's not so much for recoil control as it is for smoothing out the cycling of the rifle.
