ParaJoe
Not sure if this is the right forum, but it's a bolt gun so.... I recently purchased a Savage 4x4 in .223 and am having a small problem that is becoming a PITA. I load the internal magazine with 5. Push the bolt forward and it strips a round off and up into the chamber. Fire. I then rotate the bolt, pull all the way to the rear in a smooth motion, and return the bolt forward, rotate. After the first round it isn't picking them up off of the top of the mag. The bolt seems to glide right over the top of them. I noticed when I was cleaning the bolt this evening that there were copper "lines" on the bottom of the bolt where the rounds had rubbed. I have changed the operator, me, and this happens with whomever is shooting the rifle. When I load the magazine I push the rounds to the back of the magazine. But if I push the forward an eighth of an inch it seems to pick them up. Any ideas? I posted this on Savageshooters.com also but thought this place has better traffic.
