XRe
Yesterday, I calibrated my new UniqueTek powder bar micrometer for my current .40 powder (N320), and 5 powders that will be used in .38 SuperComp load development shortly (7625, 3N37, N350, 3N38, N105). The settings on the UniqueTek are essentially measuring volume - so you can get a good feel for the density of the powder charge by comparing the setting to the charge weight it throws. Ranked by density, the .38 Super powders looked like: 3N38, 3N37, N105, N350, 7625 In the range that most folks are using for Major in these powders, volume of powder required (from least to most) is 3N37, N350/3N38 (roughly tied), 7625, N105. By my measuring, the amount of N105 that fits in a .38SC case via the "fill and level at the top" method is 13.5gr or so. The 10-11ish grain Major load makes for a pretty full case, of course
