ZOSO
Hi all. I recently purchased a like new 2018 TSO 9mm and I have a question about the (3) CZ recoil springs that came with the gun. In the pic below, the shortest spring on the left was in the gun. It has 31 coils. The middle spring and right spring both have 28 coils, but the middle spring is a tad shorter. What are the weights of the 3 springs? Thanks! phoenixsomd
I don't know the stock spring ratings. For 9MM in my TS I ran 11# springs. USPSA Minor 128K power factor.
GeneBray
You said like new. Sounds like they were springs the previous owner used/had. The length and number of coils may help but the weight also relies on the diameter of the spring wire and the material. With out a means to actually check the wiegh you are guessing. You can estimate their relative weights by installing and subjectively see how much effort it takes to cycle the slide. You can purchase a gauge for make it easily to measure or make your own tester. Long bolt just small enough to fit inside the spring. A washer to ensure flush against the bolt head and on the opposite end. A long nut with holes for a "S" hanger and an inexpensive scale, digital or otherwise. And a flat piece of wood or metal with hole in center to fit on bolt. Your are making a "T" shaped device with the spring captured. Hold the T-bar and pull the scale attached on end nut to compass.Several videos on YouTube and a link http://allthehowards.com/pistol/recoilspringtester/index.html. Think prices for purchase are too high for the quality of the scale. Cheaper and easier to make. The advance of purchased is the spring holder has a mark to show complete compression.
