New to forum

I’m new to this forum.  Pity us here in California where it’s difficult enough just to buy, own, and shoot guns let alone find places to shoot competitively.  Yet that’s what I’m looking for, i.e., handgun shooting competitions within my skill range.  Skill range?  I really don’t know what it is yet.  I’m a couple weeks short of 66 years old and have been shooting my whole life.  My son is a police shooting instructor and says now that I’m retired I should try competing in some matches.  Why?  He says I shoot well enough to compete - purely his subjective opinion and possibly motivated by his inheritance, hahaha.

 

So, if anyone is of a mind I’d appreciate some advice for a beginner, especially if its something that could get me hooked up here in Southern California.
