rack&roll
I have a SA XD .40 with factory ported barrel. The barrel has 10 ports (5 on eack side) and the slide is cutaway on each side to vent the gases. If I were to replace the ported barrel with a non-ported factory (or aftermarket) barrel, would it then be legal (considering the slide cuts) for USPSA production? Limited 10? TIA! SRT Driver
I believe that John Amadon said that Factory ported guns with slide cuts were legal in Production if it has a non ported barrel. This was in a past issue of Front Sight.
rack&roll
OK. Now I'm really confused! SRT Driver, do you remember what issue of Front Sight you saw that in? Lynn Jones, thanks for the info. At least it's cool for Limited 10. With only 10 & 12 round mags available, I don't think it would be the "ideal" Limited gun. I really wish it was allowed in Production, though. Larry
SRT Driver
Rack&Roll, It is legal for Production. I can't find the issue..it's buried in a pile somewhere but it was a recent one. I emailed John Amidon and he replied: "The Glock C models are allowed as long as the barrels are not ported, therefore, the same would apply to the XD's that have the port cut in the slide, as long as the barrel is not ported. " There you go!! Good stuff to know. {Edit: It's the July / Aug 2004 issue, P.56 }
