Nik Habicht
I just got back from the Summer Blast ---- a match I needed to attend on a regular day off from work ---- so I shot without any of my group of friends from home. I had a terrific time ---- seeing old friends and making new ones. I was trying to figure out what it is about shooting the bigger matches, and especially the Blast, that perfectly expresses how I feel about them. What I came up with may be corny, but rings true for me: From the Cheers theme song: "Sometimes you want to go, where everybody knows your name, and they're always glad you came." (or at least they fake it well..... ) After you've been around for a little while, you run into or are squadded with familiar faces ---- people that you don't normally get to shoot with every month, and despite that you have common memories and experiences, and there's this cool camaraderie that develops....... For me, that what the sport's all about ---- but this wouldn't fit on Eric's business card.....
