stingerjg
This is a very well done tribute to not only a great football player but also an American Hero. http://www.big-boys.com/articles/pattillman.html My thoughts go out to all service men and women who have served our great country. Especially those who have commited the ultimate sacrifice.
bountyhunter
It's funny this thread would be two lines down from one about "owning up to mistakes"... which contains the truth: "It seems that shifting the blame is nationally recognized." I admired Tilman and I think he was a good soldier. Which is why I am still waiting to see the knothead commander who insisted that Tilman's force be split up and sent out onto the road in diminishing light be called to account for the blunder he created that wasted Tilman's life (and others). And just punishment should be administered for those who committed the greater offense of lying about the circumstances surrounding the death, even to Tilman's family which included another Ranger stationed in Iraq. But... I'm old, and I ain't holding my breath. In the last five years, I haven't seen anybody who screwed up held accountable for anything.
