shinne
Does anybody have any load data for this? I have Bullseyes, HP-38, Power Pistol to use. I'm trying to use all my Power Pistol first and then switch over to Bullseye. What's a good OAL to start off with? I have a M&P Pro and a CZ Custom SP-01 that I would like to use this one. dave33
Funny you are asking about that bullet, I was just having a discussion on another forum about the same one, and the lack of load data for it. I have load and chrono data for titegroup, e3, and Solo1000. To me the best use of this bullet is over fast powder at minor power factor for reduced felt recoil, and it does that well. Out of my XDM 5.25 these loads feel like shooting a .22, they all make minor PF with room to spare. Titegroup is the most consistent, most likely due to e3 and solo being larger flake powder, and with the small charges they may not be the most consistent metering. Here is a cut and paste of my response from another forum regarding the Bayou 150SWC and the chrono results: Was able to chrono some loads yesterday between rainstorms. Got the results I was pretty much expecting. I will say these loads are so soft they almost tickle. Am getting good accuracy, slightly high grouping but a couple clicks down on the rear sight should take care of that. Rounds run over my Caldwell Chrono, I am cut and pasting the results I emailed to myself. Rounds shot out of a XDM 5.25 9mm, I use a reduced power, 14lb recoil spring, I believe these rounds would cycle the stock spring however. One note, the OAL is between 1.095 and 1.105 on all three powders. Oh yeah, distance to chrono was about 15ft.Description: 3.3 solo 1000 150 bayou 1.1oalNotes 1:Notes 2:Distance to Chrono(FT): 1.00Ballistic Coefficient: 1.000Weight(g): 150.00Temp: 77 °FBP: 30.03 inHgShots:# FPS / FT-LBS10 863 / 2489 879 / 2578 877 / 2567 883 / 2606 896 / 2675 912 / 2774 929 / 2883 916 / 2802 883 / 2601 923 / 284Average: 896.1 FPSSD: 22.5 FPSMin: 863 FPSMax: 929 FPSSpread: 66 FPSDescription: 2.85 TG 150 bayou 1.09 OALNotes 1:Notes 2:Distance to Chrono(FT): 1.00Ballistic Coefficient: 1.000Weight(g): 150.00Temp: 77 °FBP: 30.03 inHgShots:# FPS / FT-LBS10 890 / 2649 889 / 2638 895 / 2677 880 / 2586 904 / 2725 872 / 2534 884 / 2603 886 / 2622 879 / 2571 ERROR 10Average: 886.6 FPSSD: 9.4 FPSMin: 872 FPSMax: 904 FPSSpread: 32 FPSDescription: 3.05 e3 150 bayou 1.09 OALNotes 1:Notes 2:Distance to Chrono(FT): 1.00Ballistic Coefficient: 1.000Weight(g): 150.00Temp: 77 °FBP: 30.03 inHgShots:# FPS / FT-LBS8 935 / 2917 938 / 2936 959 / 3065 941 / 2954 956 / 3043 922 / 2832 958 / 3061 883 / 260Average: 936.5 FPSSD: 25.2 FPSMin: 883 FPSMax: 959 FPSSpread: 76 FPS
shinne
Thanks, I think i'm just going to go ahead and make the dive and purchase 500 or so. I like that SWC make nice holes in the paper.
dave33
One thing to pay attention to is the brass you reload with. Stick with Win, Fed, Blazer, or PNC. Some of the off brands like ammoload, pierce, or GFL have a step in the case that will cause it to buldge in the middle and it won't chamber. Those 150's have to be loaded fairly short to function, 1.09-1.10 works best in my XDM, and it's a pretty long bullet to begin with. None of the loads I have tried showed any pressure signs though. And you are right, those SWC holes are nice and big.
