steviesterno
ok, so I have a buddy who's currently an AMAZING knife maker, and now he's looking into making custom grips with some cool materials like burled wood and mammoth tooth. The issue is he doesn't have versions of 1911s to accommodate the different styles (govt/officer) or random versions (like the bobtail/cco). Is there anyone who makes patterns or copies of a 1911 frame without it being an actual firearm? Or should he just get copies of the kinds of grips and go from there? Thanks, Steve
g.willikers
There's blueprints of the 1911 here: (top of the page and also further down about 15 links) m1911.org/technic.htm Edited May 30, 2014 by g.willikers
DagoRed
Man, blue mammoth ivory are my holy grail of grip desires. Some day I will have a 1911 worthy of them (good ones I've seen run almost as much as my rock island cost me, it'd be like those f-tards that put $2500 worth of wheels on a $1500 buick). Make sure you post pics of what he comes up with. Red
steviesterno
I will be sure to. I want to help prove that ivory holds up to the rigors of competition, so it's not just for gun porn any more.
