jim v
Most newly fitted Trubor barrel and comps are oversized and thus ,once fitted, they need to be reduced in size to match the contours of the existing slide. This applies to both the sides and rounded top of the comp. What is the best way to clamp these together for machining? I assume that it would be preferable to clamp the upper part of the STI frame together with the Trubor and slide and then mill the whole combination. Jediwarrior
Hi Jim, Using the barrel holding fixture (the one used for lug cutting) and the barrel alignment jig, I clamp the compensator onto the vise and use a corner rounding end mill. Not too tight on the setscrew. For the sides, I use the same jigs (or use the frame if Hybricomp) and shim the bottom of the slide for the first side on the surface grinder. I use paper strips to shim. Edited May 18, 2014 by Jediwarrior
