Another barrel question.

How important is it to have a match barrel. What actually makes a match barrel a match barrel? Is there a brand that you would recommend. All advice and opinions welcome.

Well you see a match barrel can set stuff on fire wherevasva regular barrell cannot. Its really only important if you wanna burn the stages down.

A match barrel is made of better material and better tolerances that can give you more accuracy.

Do you need one? No.

Many Nationals and other matches have been won with stock barrels.

Is it better? Of course. How can too much accuracy be bad? Now shooting a 2.2 inch group instead of a 3 you need to understand just how much "better" a match barrel is. For most regular shooters no. This is assuming you have a decent, accurate gun already.

Do I go for every advantage, of course within reason and yes I use them.

Will a match barrel advance you? Probably not

Now, has anyone ever used a Briley barrel? I have never heard of this particular brand.

Briley is big in shotguns, but also makes a good pistol barrel and they have been doing it a long time. I've had them in .38 super and .45 and they have always been good shooters.

Currently getting a Briley fitted to the .45 I use for single stack.

Sean at Powerfactor carries briley products and has good prices (and he is a forum vendor).

That's where I saw them at. They looked affordable its a match barrel but I just have never heard of them.

That .45 barrel (8c special) for 155 bones on the link I posted is a pretty good deal and is what I got.

In all honesty, fitting the barrel correctly is as important as the brand. A well fit cheaper brand barrel is better than a poorly fit top tier barrel.
