Getting shell past shot shell retainer (probably has another name)

Found this on another forum I had the same question but it wasn't really answered... can someone help me out? Its not that I am looking to open up the loading port.. The Rim of the shell can't seem to make it past the retainer bar that keeps the shells in the gun..

"My new M2 is extremely difficult to put rounds in the magazine. You have to force them in with your thumb so hard that your thumb travels a half inch down the tube. I compared it with three other shotguns I had handy and they all take shells with little to no effort. The issue seems to be getting the rim of the shot shell past the magazine retainer lever. There is no unusual resistance until the shell reaches that point so it's not the follower or the mag tube itself. Anyone else seen or heard of this?"

Do you guys polish the part mentioned above as well?

And whats the actual name for this part LOL :roflol:

I think it's called the Carrier Latch actually that I can't get the lip of the shell past without some sort of resistance. the loading doesn't feel smooth because of it.

The previous owner of my M1 had the same problem; I'm glad he didn't know about this forum.

I went the polishing and bending route (2),...problem solved.

I used the links above I think the 3rd link down had some good pictures..

To be honest though I didnt even take the carrier latch out of the gun, all I did was polish it using a felt bit on a dremel, and I only polished the part where the shell makes contact with the carrier latch, (the part where it starts to bend up.

Then after that it helped a little then i just started to load and it started to soften up. I enver did the "bend a U" thing. although I may if it doesnt get even softer than it is now, not quite where I want it but I haven't loaded but for like 20 min straight and it is already getting easier and easier.
