mcoliver
I've read and used brake cleaner to spray the gunk out of my gun's innards. Recently, I came across a silicon spray product "that doesn't leave an oily film after it dries." My question is, can it be used safely to blow out the gunk in my 1911's trigger group? Doing so with the brake cleaner might leave some places too dry and the blued parts may rust. Appreciate hearing your experiences. Thanks.
IPSCDRL
I use a combination of both. Clean with the solvent and then coat appropriate parts with the silicone. I use the silicone spray primarily for the inside of mag tubes and for the outside of my Glock mags. Brian's Slide Glide is used to lubricate all internals of the pistols. (per my gunsmith's recommendation)
