mpolans
Can anyone tell me the difference in dust cover width between a small frame and a large frame? I've heard the large is 1.000 inches, but don't know for a small.
bikerburgess
I don't know the width of the top of my head but I know they are both the same size. the only difference is the large frame is longer front to back behind the ejection port. I have put the small and large frame slides onto the other size frame out of curiosity and they fit but the back of the slide doesn't line up with the back of the frame so they wont work together. the parts that are different are. Barrel, small frames are smaller diameter. Slide, small frame slides are a little shorter behind the ejection port and the hole for the barrel in the front is smaller. Frame, small frames are shorter front to back through the mag opening and not as wide internally in the mag opening. Trigger Bow, small frames are shorter. Firing pin, small frames are shorter. Basically if you were to take a pistol in battery and cut it in half along the magazine opening the parts that didn't get cut would all be the same, except for the barrel. mpolans
Thanks a bunch! I suspected as much but wasn't sure and don't have both. Thanks for letting me know.
