fiddler
What I Learned at Ironman 2012 1. Have a fair assessment of your skills and experience. When you try to game a stage at a level beyond your capabilities you set yourself up for failure. (See #2) 2. Always make sure you put the safety on before you abandon a gun. Say it out loud as you do it. 3. If you can’t see a far rifle target fire just enough shots to engage it and move on. 4. Zero the rifle at 100 yards and know your holdovers. 5. Zero slugs at 50 yards and know your holdovers. 6. Heavy bullets, shot and full power slugs move metal targets better than light bullets, shot and reduced recoil slugs. 7. Keep your guns covered or cased as much as you can. Keep the bolt and dustcover closed on the AR. 8. Having goggles is not a bad idea. 9. Download AR magazines by as many as necessary for them to reliably insert on a closed bolt. Test every magazine. 10. Run the AR wet. Really wet. Dripping wet. 11. Ditto the shotgun. (1100) 12. Wear plugs and muffs on tunnel stages. 13. You can go down the slide faster than that. 14. You can go faster carrying the dummy.
Romans 13 4
Good advice. I'd add wear plugs and muffs shooting under the car. When the muffs come off as you engage the FIrst clay, it tends to ring your bell by the time you hit the last one.
HOA
I agree with everything except the 100 yd zero. I prefer the 50 yd zero. It is with in 2 inches from 25 yds to 200 yds. Which if you aim center of A Zone your good.
