GunCat
I have in hand a Taurus PT24/7 in .40 that exhibits a weird issue. When manually cycling the slide you can pull the slide back far enough that the trigger bar (tip that engages the striker) will pop up just in front of the breech face and lock the slide to the rear. To allow the slide to move forward you will have to push the slide back about 1/32” (that is as far as the slide will move) then use a punch to press down on the trigger bar (you cannot pull the trigger at this point, the bar hangs on the breech face) When the trigger is depressed (as in actually firing) the trigger bar stays down and everything works as it should. No visibly obvious damage to the frame, slide, or trigger. Anyone ever seen this situation ? Edited June 3, 2012 by GunCat
GunCat
Problem solved (kind of...) There is a metal insert in the polymer frame just in front of the trigger group block that limits the rearward travel of the slide. On this pistol part of this insert is broken (I can see the ragged edge). The insert is an integral part of the polymer frame, ....the serial numbered part...so this one will have to go back to Taurus.
