midget
Man you did one fantastic job. Tell me about the Caswell system. Where did you purchase and what was its product name? This is where I got the kit: http://www.caswellplating.com/kits/black.htm The only thing that I did differently is that I followed the procedure listed: http://www.hobbygunsmith.com/Archives/Jan04/Feature.htm It is really easy, but the finish depends on what kind of surface prep you did. During the off season, I will most likely strip the slide and frame back down and redo it (making sure this time to get all of the scratches/bumps/pits out)... Also, seeing how I already have the supplies, if you have anything you want done, that is small enough to fit in a 5 gallon bucket, I can do it for you. You will however be responsible for the polishing/surface prep Edited August 16, 2011 by midget
tgford58
I will take you upp on that. I have a couple of 1911 coming off the bench in the next month that I was going to high temp enamel. This looks like a superior finish. We can try one and if it turns out as good as yours then I'll buy the supplies. Thank you for the offer.
