TZ-75: Milling Slide for Sights

blind bat

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone. I have an old "Tanfoglio TZ-75 Series 88" collecting dust in my safe. The gun has the front sight permanently milled into the slide and a standard CZ/EAA style rear sight. I'd like to replace the front sight with a Dawson style fiber optic sight blade and put an adjustable target sight on the rear. A friend has a mill and has agreed to show me how to run the mill and machine the slide. How awesome is that???!!!

I'm assuming that I'm going to need to mill down the current front sight with a straight end mill then use a dovetail cutter to machine a traditional dovetail across the slide (as opposed to the CZ/EAA style the runs down the center of the slide). I'd also like to "melt" the rear sight low to slide.

Any recommendations on sights and the correct dovetail cutter? Also, does anyone know the dimensions of the rear dovetail?

I'm thinking about this sight for the rear but I'm not sure if it will be mount low enough to the slide for my liking:
