gwalchmai
I tried 2.8gr and 3.2gr of (straight) Clays under a Georgia Arms 125gr LRN. (1.125" OAL) Out of my CZ75B the rounds look like buckshot patterns! Accuracy was terrible. This is very strange because otherwise the gun is very accurate. Using 3.2 - 3.5gr of Clays under a Rainier 124gr plated round nose is very accurate in the gun. Hodgdon recommends a max load of 3.3gr of Clays for a 125gr LRN, but I'm going to try 3.5gr and see if it's any better. Any suggestions? rhyrlik
You should develop the load with different primers (4 major brands), and play with COAL and powder charges. You will then see if Clays is the right powder for that bullet in the 9mm.
ErikW
I used 2.7 gr Clays under coated LRN 125 gr bullets and it was a poofy .22-like load (115-120 power factor?). Average lead accuracy. (I couldn't get Clays to work with 124 FMJ.) There is some question whether a fast-burning powder, such as Clays, adversely affects 125 LRNs in 9x19. There are several reports of poor accuracy and of tumbling or keyholing bullets.
