usmc1974
I was wondering? are light bullets going very fast harder on the guns parts, wear, rifling. Load like 115gr JRN 10.2gr SR4756 1.260" 1560 179.4 or 115gr Zero JHP 8.6gr VV-N350 1.330” ~1565 ~180.
earlbob
I have heard a lot of people say that over the years and assumed it was from gunsmiths experience in fixing and observation. However if the power factor is the same for a heavy and a lite bullet then the difference would be slide velocity all other things being equal. Maybe the choice of light springs has more to do with wear from battering rather then bullet weight although the rifling in the barrel (and breech face) is a separate entity due to the friction and gas effects. I look forward to hearing some of the smithys saying something on this topic. earl
