  1. If you are going to do the BP 30/30 why not go the whole 9 yards and load it with paper patched soft lead bullets and drive it at jacketed speed. Paul Matthews cautions how you load the BP/pyrodex powder into the shell. Make sure you use one of those long filler tubes so the powder stackes itself evenly. fill it to just be compacted by the seated bullet and clean the barrel often. Jacketed bullets don't like fouling any better than cast or lead. The guys who do this it seems develop duplex loads to reduce the fouling. that is another thread. Best of luck. JB
  2. I have seen competitors who load low enough to see their bullets fly to the plate. Since the max distance is set for the game. Has anyone worked up loads that can travel the distance with a 40 S&W that gets the job done but you don't need aircraft sights to still hit the mover at max range. I shoot a Springfield Armory P9 with a compensator. Not much muzzle rise, but I would think less would be better than ++fps. Am I all wet here? JB
