  1. Thanks - looks like 5 is the plan. I was planning on using a loader mag as well. Is a "barney" mag one you carry in your pants pocket in case you really screw somthing up? I've not heard that term. Are you guys carrying 5 putting all of them on your left side behind the hip bone, or do you run one behind your holster on the right side? Is getting a couple double holders and one single a good idea - I run a Wilderness belt and have a 34-36 inch waist depending on how much beer I've had.... Jeff
  2. What is the standard for the number of mags you Single Stack folks are using? 4? Do you run all of them on your weak side - I assume wrapped somewhat behind your back. Did a search, but couldn't find an answer - found a bunch of gorgeous 1911 pictures instead....
  3. Kim Ahrends grips fit me nearly perfect and are beautiful on both my K frames.
  4. You should come out to Prado on Wednesday nights. Great fun and very low key for the first time person. I shot my first match there last week - I had an absolute blast.
  5. I went to the Comp-Tac site - I don't think they make a K frame holster. The Blade Tech looks nice. Fortunately for me I work about 20 minutes from Safariland - I may driver over and take a look at the 560 series for giggles. Thanks, Jeff
  6. Walter, Thank you very much - that is more of the input I was looking for. I've never owned a Kydex holster. I think I'll order me up a Blade tech and give it a whirl. Jeff
  7. All holsters will wear the finish of your blue gun; if you compete, and practice, your finish will show it. If that is a concern with this gun and you consider it a "collectable" you probably need to locate another gun. Save this one for a BBQ gun. Not many of us abuse our equipment, but missed reloads, shells hung under extractors, starting positions with guns on raggedy surfaces, banging a prop as you walk by when pasting, whacking a port under recoil or when misjudging distances (or just plain missing the port), trying to reload while simultaneously holding some kind of prop (bucket, grenade, etc) will all leave marks on the gun. Just like any other kind of tool or sporting equipment, at the end of the season it will show if it sat in the box at home or got used. Understand - the gun is older but not a safe queen. It was a Police issued gun and has some bluing wear. I guess what I'm really asking is will the Kydex wear the finish faster then either leather or the Safariland lined holster? Thanks, Jeff
  8. I have a Mernickle leather rig right now for my Model 19. I'm looking to get something a little faster and easier to deal with. I'm starting to shoot IPSC and will try IPDA as well. The one thing I'm concerned of is really hammering the finish on my revolver. It's an older M19 and while I want to compete with it I don't want to ruin it. I've heard that Kydex is hard on a guns finish. I have a Safariland holster for my CZ75 and it's lined. I noted that the 567 model is also lined. Are the Blade Tech holsters lined or just Kydex? How does Kydex affect the finish of a blued revolver? Any other recommendations? Thanks, Jeff
