  1. I need some advice. I am serving as a committee chair and match director for Multigun as well as some other sports at my club.

There is a recently formed Safety comittee at the club that is implementing some rules that are going to inhibit my ability to run quality matches, if I will be able to run them at all.

    For example:

--A rule is to be added that all rounds must impact the back berm of each practical bay. No rounds may impact the side berm.

--All targets must be placed at a height and orientation such that all rounds must impact the back berm. This means that shotgun targets will be either on the back berm, or not at all. For example knock-downs and poppers. No disinction is being made here between types of ammunition. A shotshell is a rifle round is a pistol round is a paintball.

So my first question. Has anyone ever dealt with a club (inside the United States) that has these rules, or does anyone know of one?

If this is a common practice, then I am done.

Assuming this is abnormal, let's continue. When I said "hostile" in the title, perhaps I should have said "passive-agressive". Some time ago, I was asked if such a ruling would inhibit my ability to run matches. I answered that it would hurt multigun, uspsa, and idpa matches at the club, and that answer was acknowledged and accepted, and that was supposedly the end of it. When I wasn't around to offer any input, the club executive board decided to vote on these new rules. I offer a lot of my time to the club, and my time is valuable. I was not even consulted by the safety committee before this decision was made. I am tempted to walk away from all my involvement in match administration and volunteering and call it a day.

So what can I do here? This doesn't seem right. A shooting sports club that doesn't want to allow and support the shooting sports. Will the NRA get involved here? We are an NRA affiliated range. Do they even care if their organizations don't promote other (non-NRA sponsored) shooting sports?

    Any input is appreciated.

  2. Were you guys going to send out email confirmations?

Not that our U.S. Postal service would ever lose anything... :surprise:

    Thanks!

    Randy

Absolutely Randy, I started emailing confirmations this week. Now that being said, the applications are mailed to our club treasurer, and I collect them from him. I have not collected them for about 3 weeks now, so we have some backlog.

I will see him next Wednesday and should have more confirmations mailed out towards next weekend.

Sorry for the delay in this, there are a few more moving parts in the process than I would like. But it's necessary because of the club's financial requirements.

  3. Having trouble with the application. Was gonna bring it along this weekend to give to Brett but it wont open. Downloaded the newest version Adobe and still the same thing.

Can you give this one a shot, I am not sure if it's a problem with the copy on the site, people's connections, or what-not. Let me know if the results are the same here.

    Thanks Jon!

We're holding our first Multi-Gun match of 2011 on Sunday, March 6th at Wildcat Valley Rifle & Pistol Club near Brookston, IN.

    INMG rules apply (attached).

Required (minimum) rounds are 60 Rifle, 60 handgun and 60 shot, and 5 slugs. I recommend bringing more as these are minimum rounds required.

    Setup Saturday 3/5

Gates open at 2PM, setup will probably continue until 6PM or so.

It is very important that we have enough people to help out with setup on Saturday and Sunday before the match, so that we can begin on time. So if you are local and can make it out, it would be much appreciated!

    Sunday 3/6:

    Gates open at 8AM

    Shooters meeting at 9:45

    Shooting starts at 10AM

Match fee is $20.00* Juniors with paid adult are half price.

*Setup crew and RO's shoot for $10.00

  5. Tony its "supposed" to get warmer and stay warmer from this coming weekend on out..... but thats what the weather people say.....

I hope they are right Jon!

We have "polar bear" match this Saturday. Its a high of 29 partly cloudy. I'am hope your right Jon, because right now its like 19 degrees lol Many many layers for this weekend. For popper what about packing a bunch of snow under it? ;)

I think it's more about packing chipped ice under the popper, we don't have much of this "snow" that you speak of.... ;)

  6. Looking forward to it. Does anyone have a way to speed up time? Its 9degrees right now here in Michigan so if we could jsut jump ahead at least 2 monthes that would be great :)

Yea, you know I scheduled our first regular club multigun match for March 6th, I am thinking that might have been a mistake. I don't mind setting things up/shooting in the cold, but it would be nice to be able to see the ground. It's hard to level poppers on a snowbank.

  7. [Rescheduled to October 31st, this match was on the club calendar for October 3rd and was moved due to a scheduling conflict]

We're holding another Multi-Gun match on October 31st at Wildcat Valley Rifle & Pistol Club near Brookston, IN. Indiana Multigun (INMG) rules apply (attached as well).

    Round counts will follow shortly.

We plan to have five (5) fun and challenging stages for score.

    Gates open at 8AM

    Shooters meeting at 9:45

    Shooting starts at 10AM

Match fee is $20.00* Juniors with paid adult are half price.

  8. I didnt have any problems on the 200yd range.... I think I shot maybe 10rds total on that stage to make all the hits.... in 31.67secs, hahaha.

All in all though that was a badass match. Other than my semiauto 1187 turning into a pump gun basically, I had an excellent match. My 'smith is workin on the 1187 right now so it should be good to go by Atlanta's multigun.

Thanks man. You were the second fastest on that stage, Jeff beat you out by .3 seconds.

We also had one Iron shooter (Larry H) clear it in 35.13 seconds, and a few others come close, so they deserve some credit.

Scores will be out soon, I am just verifying everything before I post them.

  9. On the team event how far is the shotgun box from the handgun box?? My comp on my barrel may make a handgun shooter unhappy! Unless I roll the shotgun 45 degrees the right side up aka hoodrat style.

Not too far, but your targets will be to the extreme left against the berm. If you help the Handgunner out with his targets, I am sure he will forgive you for a little comp blasting... ;)

If however you miss, you may want to buy him a beer later.
