  3. I have recently started back into reloading after a 15 year hiatus. My question concerns different brands of brass and their respective cc capacity and its effects on the load. I am using some newly purchased ammunition of Remington and WWB and its brass after firing, and some old brass +/- 15 years old of Speer and W-W. I have noticed some diferences in the brass I.E. the Speer brand typically has a larger primer flash hole, the Winchester brass from the WWB and the older W-W ( Winchester-Western) appear identical but the newly purchased Remington, marked R-P, appears to have a different radius on the inside of the brass where the sidewall turns into the base. It is much more radiused than the Speer, Winchester and W-W which all appear to have a relatively sharp turn from the sidewall into the base. This gives rise to the idea that maybe the R-P brass has a smaller capacity and should be kept separate from the other brass so that the loads are more consistant. Has anyone else noticed this? I've considered the idea of measuring the capacity of each make of brass, but am stumped on just how to do this in a relatively simple manner. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks for listening. -steve
