  1. Before we start, understand I have no intention of doing this, I just got curious this morning if it were even possible to drill and tap the frame of a polymer pistol for a red dot mount. I would assume due to the flexing of the frame, you’d be setting yourself up for cracks pretty fast. Just curious.
  2. That was my thinking, with the SJC Comp, the gun would be like wielding a damn sword! So I’ve ordered all the parts to make it a 22 open gun. Now I just need to find a race holster that works with the SJC frame weight.
  3. Does the length matter for an open build? I have a 35 I’m planning to turn into an open gun. Before I order the threaded barrel an comp, I was just curious on the Forum’s thoughts. Right now the 35 has a Timney Trigger, Carver Magwell. Extended Controls, Beavertail, SJC Frame Weight and frame mounted optic. I can pick up an already lightened slide for less than milling then 35, and it won’t be so crazy long. background: Steel Challenge shooter turning USPSA geek. SC gun is a hi-cap 1911 that’s being converted to 38 Super, but barrel fitting takes time. So, for now just goofing with the 35.
  4. I have the Glockstore kit with uncaptured spring sitting in my cart ready to go. Not sure if the tungsten is really worth it, or if I should just get steel.
  5. Just ordered my Timney Trigger for my USPSA limited set up…this trigger will potentially float between my 35 and 34 (Carry Optics). I order the Black Yikes connector and a spring kit. just wondering how best to pair the lightened trigger/connector/striker springs along with a recoil springs for a lightened slide 34. I load my rounds as light as will cycle my firearm and still make power factor. I’ve read I should probably be running a lighter recoil spring for a slide that’s been lightened. thanks!
  6. I bought a RIA STK100 (Gen 3 17 clone) because I dug the lightening cuts, aluminum frame, and optics cut all from the factory. When I took it out, I had constant light strikes. Took it home and cleaned it, still constant light strikes. So I took my firing pin spring from my Gen 3 17 and put it in there and it solved the light strikes issue, but now there are constant FTE/double feed. Are these issues related? I was hoping to solve this with a 5 dollar spring instead of sending it back, but I may have to.
