  1. I guess it took me about 5years to go from nothing to Master shooter and State Champ at PPC.
  2. Hello Everyone, Does anyone know where mI can shoot the Bianchi cup in the Northeast, I don't mind drive 4hrs or so. Thnaks
  3. Hey Jim, Thanks for the info. Do you shoot Bianchi??? Some match director I have talked said pinning the safety for Steel is OK. Thanks again
  4. Hey Guys, Thanks for the info. I have not tried drawing and shooting yet. I hve just been dry firing the draw and he first shot. Your information is very useful and I will put it to good use. Seevers, did you really have sleepless nights before you made master or it just drove you crazy. Thanks Guys
  5. Hey Matt, So it is pinned then and that is legal for IPSC, Steel and say Bianchi? If mine were pinned then I think that I won't have a problem. Yes shooting a 1911 in .38 Super. So my shooting hand thumb should be resting on top of the thumb safety as the shot breaks? Thanks Matt
  6. Hey Matt, Thanks for the info. My biggest problem is trying to work the thumb safety during the draw and presentation, sometimes I miss it, sometimes my grip isn't good and it doesn't disable the grip safety. Things like things are driving me crazy. Not problem with the actual shots, just the fast draw I guess. I guess I have small hands? Bob
  7. Hello Everyone, I was just wondering what might be a good draw time for a new shooter vs a master shooter. I was thinking about drawing and firing one shot say at 15yds and getting an "A" hit. Thanks in advance for the info
  8. Thank you for all the info everyone and the article. I'm still not sure about it yet. It appears that this is a good technique for shoot fast and accurately. Which I guess is all relative. Thanks again everyone
  9. Hello Everyone, I have a question concerning grip with Semi-Autos. What are the advantages and disadvantages of having your thumbs locked down, as in DA shooting VS thumbs along the slide in SA or DA shooting. I have been trying this out and have a lot of mixed results. Mainly looking for the accuracy benefit. Thank you everyone in advance for your help.
  10. Hey Vlad, Can't do it this Friday, Have NY PPC State Champs on Sat and Sun. I will show up though. Bob
  11. Hello Vlad, I also belong to Old Bridge, I have shooting there for 10 years. It's where I looked first. I'm sure we would know each other if we came face to face. Thanks Vlad Bob
  12. Bob, 1. You need to shoot at least 4 different classifier stages. 2. Yes! 3. .38 Super is good, and a very popular round for Open. 4. That would be a good start. Some matches publish stages online, you can set them up without the extra props for more practice. 5. Used to be out to 50 yards, but that's not too common anymore. Average is about 10 to 15 yards, at least here in New England. 6. Not usually at the same match. You said in the Northeast, care to be more specific as to state? Hey Dan, Thanks for the reply, I think you have answered most of my questions. A little back ground on myself. Live in NJ. Run the NJ Police Pistol Competitons for the entire State AKA PPC and have been furtunate to win the State Championship 3 times in the last three years. I feel that I am stalled at my shooting, think that something new might help. I did hope that targets would be shot out at 50yds, but I think I will give it a try. Thanks Dan
  13. Hello Everyone, I am considering shooting IPSC in the North Eastern part of the country. I have a few questions #1 How do I get classified and why does it seem to take so long? #2 What is the name of the game, i.e. shoot as fast as you can while trying to maintain "A" hits. #3 What is a good caliber to use I have a 1911 .38 Super Bianchi gun. #4 What would be some good practice drills to do, El pres, double tap targets at various distances, etc. #5 What is usually the longest distance most matches are shot at and what would be the distance most shots are made? #6 Can you shoot both Stcok and Open firearms? Thanks you all in advance. Bob
