  1. I put a bullet in a case and stuck it on top of the rod long time ago. No problems since
  2. From my loader to my electric HW heater about 4 feet. Just to the right of the HW heater is the furnace. This was my concern too, but the guy who got me started said, "it's NOT gasoline".
  3. I've started with Rainier and switched to Berrys(price) BOTH are plated. Was loading the Rainier's @ 4.2 and would not eject from my son's XD9. We pushed it to 4.4 and now they work fine. Load data: LINKY
  4. I called (and shoot) Rainier 230 RN out of my .45. When I saw the info here I had to call them again to confirm my load. The STARTING load from them for 231 is 5.6. So I called the lady I spoke to a long time ago to check on my load. Spoke to Phyllis at 1-800-638-8722. She confirmed 5.6 as a starting load.
  5. Here is a detailed info on the product. Link
  6. Well, I'm doing my hand gun brass. Now it's time to add .223(s) I have a 550B and here is what I was thinking of doing... I want to get a spare toolhead and put in station 1 the deprime and resizing die. In station 2 I wanted to put in a Swage (Frames site, YUCK. Goto priming tools next to last link. Then in the current toolhead station 1 would be empty 2 powder, 3 seating, and 4 crimp Anyone have any experience with this swage? TIA Radnor
  7. Well, this is my list for now. Am I missing anything??? Giraud trimmer swage Conv Kit .223 Remington SS Rifle Case Gage, .223 Remington .223 Remington Carbide 3-Die Set RL550B Deluxe Quick Change Assembly Case Lube
  8. My son said he had no issues loading his 9mm. But when I load my 45(s), FREQUENTLY the arm with the primer cup on it will NOT go toward me 100% of the travel. So, I do not think the primer cup is pushing in the white pin to allow a primer to fall into the cup. Any ideas on fixing this???? I did clean the base, primer track bearing, primer slide arm, and the base of the primer housing and shield with alcohol.
  9. Thank you all! I am putting together my Christmas list now...... The trimmer was a little bit of a surprise ($$$). But, if I look at my original estimate VS. actual cash spent for equuipment..... Looks like I will be doing 223s in '07. Thanks again!
  10. Good morning all! I am new to reloading. Currently 9mm and 45. I have a 550B. What I am looking for now is my shopping list for adding 223s to the mix. I was going to get the delux quick change kit. I need dies (BRAND????). Also, case prep, what do I need here??? Case trimming equipment, again brand? Thanks for the help.
  11. Like I said, I was going to do it via the book.... I was not sure what (if any) a lower OAL would do. I realize you have one chance to "muck up", I did not want to use it until weeks AFTER I'm dead..... Thank you all again. I will be watching the thread for more info
  12. Thank you for the welcome! I was questioning the DIFFERENT COL. Will seating it lower do anything to pressure? Just for fun, pulled a factory round from a green/white box (9mm) ant it measured 1.115", 1.104", 1.097. I was going to follow "THE BOOK" to the letter! Like I said, I came in with 5 on each hand, I want to go out with the same (But NOT as a result of reloading). I purchased case gages too. Will they help with this too???
  13. First, yes I am a noob. I am almost ready to start loading some Rainiers (that's what I am waiting for...). I called Rainier and spoke to a lovely sounding lady there and was looking for a recipe. She said she was NOT endorsing any of the products specified but this is the load data on hand.... That's cool, she defined my shopping list for me... I am using W231 and CCI primers Data given was: 9mm 124g RN 4.0-4.5g col=1.120" 45acp 230g RN 5.6-6.2g col=1.260" Now, I have the Lyman 48th book, and in it the COL for 9mm is 1.169" and45 is 1.275". My question..... Will there be any issues if I make the COL the SAME as the Lyman book? I was going to start at the low end of the scale for powder and work up. I did not know about the COL difference... I am new to this and am starting it with 5 fingers on each hand and would like to KEEP it that way... Thanks for the help!!!
