  1. Maybe the MD should call them 'yard mines'. If you step on one you must drag that foot for the remainder of the stage to simulate trying to scrape the dogshit off your shoe. Tell me scraping a yard mine off you shoe is not practical, and something you have never done.

  2. I've heard it twice. First time, the shooter swept everyone uprange while unslinging his rifle. This was some outlaw 3g match. Everyone said 'big boy rules' so it's all OK. Next time I heard the term was 3GNation. A competitor sent one down range at unload & show clear. No DQ because big boy rules 3GNation (& television). I voted option 3 - no one got shot.

  3. I have said and posted too many times to count, 15 rounds with current USPSA 8 round arrays is silly, IF you are going to go beyond 10 rounds 16 rounds is the magic number.

    I like 10

In other words....15 rounds isn't silly - the current trend of USPSA 8 round arrays is silly.

  4. I have run a stag 3G for about 4 years now. Had the barrel, forearm, and trigger I wanted. Put some glass and a comp on it right off the bat. Over time I switched stocks, added 45 irons (on the cheep), and played with different grips and charging handles. Not much to change now unless I upgrade glass.

My opinion is get something serviceable that works well and go from there. You can always upgrade/replace later. And either sell your replaced parts or put them in a box until you decide to build another gun.

I have pretty much the same thing. 3yr old Stag 3G. 1-6 scope, Benny-Cooley comp, offset iron sights, and a Luth-AR stock from a prize table.

  5. I think I've changed my mind and I'll be going with the FF3

Hope this is not too late to stop you. I have a FF3 on mu P-09 and it is now on my Turkey. I hated the shape of the lens, the dust cover the automatic setting. Just be warned that if you have it in auto mode it will turn off 80 % of the time after the second or third stage.

I just installed a doctor sight and have fired 300 rounds through it. it is freakin awesome. I was ready to scrap the whole idea of CO but with this sight I feel I can start to get better instead of worrying about equipment issues.

    My .02,

My wife and I have been using Doctor sights for about 18 months, they are great. Hard to believe it is not the GO -TO dot for CO

Not hard to believe at all. You can buy 2 FF3's for the price of 1 Docter.

  6. I put mine in Station #3 and removed the pin. I run a standard sizing/decapping die in Station #1. I use a casefeeder on my 550, ... my loading toolhead has Station #1 empty - just prime there.

I'm confused. You mean you run all your cases through once just to size and deprime, and then you run them all through again to prime, charge, seat, and crimp?

    It's a 550 (4 stations) not a 1050.

    Run through to size/deprime/trim

Tumble (they were lubed for sizing)

    Swage on Super 600

    Run through to prime/charge/seat/crimp.

Guys with 650's do more or less the same.

  7. As it is still a provisional division I would be less than eager to have a slide milled rendering it illegal for Production should the division die. Dovetail mount until this is set in ink. Don't believe me? Ask all the guys that put bucks into rigs for the first version of the rules.

I think the reason to keep it a provisional division for the year was to allow rule changes without waiting two years. I'm having my slide milled. Should the rules change and the need arises, I'll change slide to be Prod legal again. Guys that put $$ into rigs for the first version still have CO legal rigs. I'll also be using the gun in 3gun Stealth at RSSC.

  8. USPSA NEWS

Board approves changes to the provisional Carry Optics Division

USPSA continues to embrace the evolution in firearms technology and innovation. Numerous handgun manufacturers are now offering optics-ready platforms. The recent SHOT Show displayed more optics-ready carry guns than ever before. Custom gunsmiths often upgrade these factory offerings with front cocking serrations, cosmetic cuts, stippled grips, undercut trigger guards, buried optics and co-witnessed sights.

In July of 2015, USPSA announced the provisional Carry Optics Division. During the past few months, the provisional division has exhibited slow but steady growth. The members interested in this division have spoken, and the USPSA Board of Directors has listened. The division will remain provisional, but for the remainder of 2016 will have some new opportunities.

The changes for Carry Optics Division will make it truly unique from other divisions, and will include:

    • Authorization for all levels of USPSA and Steel Challenge
    • Expanded stippling, contouring and texturing of the grip frame to include undercut trigger guard and grip reduction
    • Expanded slide profiles to include serrations and cosmetic cuts not completely through the slide
    • Increased weight limit of 45 ounces, including optic and empty magazine, allowing more pistols to compete
    • Required use of a slide-mounted optic, prohibiting guns without an optic.

The next review of the provisional Carry Optics Division is scheduled for late January 2017.

Please note that making some of the changes now allowed in the provisional Carry Optics Division will render your handgun illegal for Production Division. A new appendix has been added to the online rulebook to aid shooters and match officials with the changes.

  9. Who did the milling? What it someone in the Phx area?

I had mine done by L&M Precision (http://www.landmprecisiongunworks.com/). Mark did really good work and had very good communications answering some questions I had beforehand. I just shipped him the slide/RMR in a USPS flat rate box, had it back within 2 weeks.

There are a bunch of places in the valley that do slide milling, but I haven't heard much about the quality of their work or seen reviews of them so didn't consider any of them. L&M was one of the first shops to start doing the RMR milling many years ago so he definitely knows what he's doing. The other place I was considering was ATEi (http://ateiguns.com/), I've also heard great things about them.

    pm sent.

  10. How many on this thread have gone all the way and milled out your slide....

versus using some sort of interface plate with your dovetail?

I had mine milled. Although I was already interested in doing this before Carry Optics existed so when it came about that pushed me over the edge to finally get it done.

How many are co witness with iron sights?

Mine co-witness. Not being an Open shooter it helps a lot finding the dot. Especially with stuff like weak handed shooting.

Who did the milling? What it someone in the Phx area?
