  1. What are "older" shooters with less than 20/20 eyesight using for sights?

I really enjoy shooting Limited but am wondering if there is a better solution for sights. I shot an Open gun for the first time this past month and the C-More red dot was almost enough to make me go buy an Open gun but like I said, Limited is an awful lot of fun. Would prefer to find the best solution for old eyes shooting Limited.

    Thanks

  2. I have a couple 5186's (both from Shooters Connection) that I use for a 5" Kimber and a 5" Para S16. Have not had a problem with either one. However the Bladetech I have does draw eaiser/quicker. I thought the Trojan had standard 1911 dimensions. If so, you might want to see about returning the holster for a new one.

  3. After getting my first SVI tube, I started wondering how much work it would be to "convert" my STI tubes to such a nice shiney surface inside and out. I threw the STI's into my vibrator using corn cob media and set it for 8 hours. Viola, can't tell the difference between the SVI and "new" STI's. Simple solution with virtually no effort (that's for me).

  4. I emailed IDPA and the answer I got back was that the Recoil Master is not legal but the Ranger ll would be legal by substituting a standard steel one piece guide rod. I would assume this means any STI with the Recoil Master would have to be swapped to be legal. By the way the bull barrel is legal as it is shorter than the 4.2" max allowed for bull barrels. Thanks for all the replies and input.

    THANKS

  5. I am relatively new to Limited (SVI .40 LDC) and was wondering what the advantages/disadvantages are of different bullet types. I am currently using Precision Bullets 185 FN but would like input on using Hollowpoint and Jacketed styles for Limited .40. Is one type inherently more accurate, reliable, etc. I am certainly happy with Precision's pricing relative to HP and FMJ but.....

    THANKS

  6. I would like to shoot ESP with an STI Ranger II (9mm) but am not sure whether the gun is legal for the class. I can find (STI, Dawson, Brazos) where the gun is legal for USPSA/IPSC but no mention of IDPA. The barrel is a bull barrel but it is under 4.2 length (4.15) so my reading of the rules leads me to believe it would be legal - "Factory installed cone style barrels...with length of 4.2 or less". Can anyone tell me if the gun is legal for ESP and if not why not?

    Thanks

  7. Have been using a Para 16-40 in Limited without any trouble at all. It is half the price of goiny the STI/SVI route when you consider 3 or 4 mags are required for either gun. That said I have just picked up a SVI (price was too good to resist) and must say it makes the Para feel sort of crude. The Para was my first gun and I don't regret getting it but if you think you will want to "upgrade" to a STI/SVI then I would suggest going ahead and getting it to start with. However if you aren't sure about continuing in the sport then get the Para as it will be cheaper to "exit".

  8. I have a S16-40 Ltd that I picked up in December. Have put about 5000 rounds through it without a single problem. All I did was add a Dawson FO front sight, Ice magwell, and add Dawson Mag bases to get 20 rounds in the mags. It has proven to be accurate and reliable. Did a 3 lb trigger job on stock components. I would definitely recommend one as a economical way to get into Limited and be competitive.
