  1. What annoys me is that a parents income can still affect a students FA even when the relationship is sour. I know too many "kids" who have derailed motivation for school because the parents don't want their kids to know about income (or atleast that is what the parents tell them). Something needs to be adjusted.

None the less I hope your daughter is able to make the best of her collegic opportunity.

  2. IMHumbleO I don't think it would "affect" it, the fundimental is still the same... front sight focus. As Brian says in his book, focus on the top center of the front sight, not just the entirety (dot) of the front sight.

But it will be interesting to see what some of the others have to say when they chime in.

  3. Camaraderie: Loyalty and warm, friendly feeling among comrades.

This is the definition that Webster provides us with.

My definition goes beyond these words…Trust comes to mind. Physical, mental and emotional trust to know that they can be counted on and that they can count on you in times of stress and in times of vulnerability. There are not too many things that can top the camaraderie of working with a solid group of guys.

    What is in your definition?

Reminiscing on my “early” Navy days.

  4. I'm really surprised to see so many people say that the lock and hardware being the week point. After being too many break in's and kicking in many doors I would say that the door frame/jam fails more often than the lock. One of the most difficult doors I've seen was a cheap door that opened out, we ended up crashing through the big hole in the middle. I would think a serious door that opened out would be almost impossible to get in without the whole world knowing what was going on.

Kind of like a bank vault, right...

  5. It is a good start to do what you say you are going to do. Today -- as I told myself, I would -- I spent a half hour dry firing. I did not use any USPSA targets, just light switches and such. I am finally moving through Brian's book and atleast on paper there are a few things clicking for me. As I begin this second phase of my shooting I have a few more details to be aware of. None the less there are numerous things I need to work on, even in dry firing.

  6. I shot my first match in production (2006), but I am setting out to shoot production for atleast this season.

Make B in production (as of LAST (2007) season I was a C limited shooter).

I "feel" like I have psychologically taken a step in my patience and awareness and believe that B class is an obtainable challenge.

I would like to get started in some rifle stuff (need the shotty for 3 gun) and in general just me around shooting more.

Be dedicated to improving...B is the benchmark.

  7. Old school

Yeah, I watch a lot of sports, and this ME-ME-ME stuff drives me nuts!!!

If I was a team owner, this is what I would do:

NO names on jerseys, you are part of a team, not an individual

Although I hate the Yankees, I like their rule on hair, no facial hair and has to be cut above the collar

I don’t like graffiti on bridges or buildings, hence I HATE tattoos!!! IF a player has a tattoo, it will be covered from view anytime that player is in uniform or on a team trip or function.

NO chest pounding when you dunk the ball, hit a home run or score a touchdown. Lay down the bat and RUN around the bases, hand the Referee the ball and run to the bench, it was NOT your touchdown, it was the teams, and without the blocking, YOU would not have made it anyway.

Character counts, act like an adult.

IF you break a law, your contract is terminated.

    Miss a meeting, gone!!!

I think these spoiled team athletes are a terrible example for our youth.

But, I also think that embracing the team concept would make them better too.

    Old school, yes I am.

I think Mike Singletary of the SF 49’ers might have things right, or at least moving in the proper direction.

Give me Landry, Ditka, Halas, Unitas and those boys, that is how the game was supposed to be played.

Oh yeah, run out of bounds to avoid getting hit, and you can run suicides for the next week, AFTER practice

    Just my thoughts.

    Happy New Year

You're right about that (although I agree with the other guy about the quarter back thing). I work with "at risk" youth and you would not believe -- or maybe you would -- what some kids today aspire to be. Being the best does not mean being the loudest.

I would like to add that I am 26, I believe it is a state of mind, not a genre. I hope you agree

  8. Along with the reloading books I would suggest getting the Hodgdon Reloading Manual. It is a magazine that they publish every year showing loading data using Hodgdon, Winchester, and IMR powders. I have found it to be quite useful in my reloading endeavours. ;) I just picked up the 2009 version this past week, and have the 2007 and 2008 versions still.

    +1

Brian's Compition Reloading DVD is not a bad investment. A 650 is the way to go. Get all the accessories you can afford, you will not be disappointed. I certainly regret previously selling mine. Once you have read a quality reloading book or two, you can use the forum to find out what combination makes power factor for you.

  9. Was just at Cabella's and they have Fiocchi 223 55fmj for $22'sh for a box of 50. I don't have capability to shoot it through right now, but would like to buy a bunch for practice ammo (or match ammo if it works that well) if it cycles well. I know JP says to use some dicernment when chooseing ammo, just wondering if any of you have any experience.

    Thanks,

    Phil
