  1. I think if you really, really read the current USPSA 3 gun rules, you can shoot a 9mm AR or a Beretta CX4 Storm in 9mm, now in 3 gun. It's just that if you go to a bigger match with (steel??) targets at 100 yards or farther, you'll be screwed. I think as the rules stand now the minimum is a .224 " caliber and at least a 150 PF... of course, you might have to reload 9mm to get it going that fast out of a 16 inch or longer barrel and 9mm is like, what? .355" caliber, I think. It does make scoring easier though instead of looking for little .22 caliber holes in cardboard.

  2. If Merlin says a 3 second procedural, is that for the whole stage or is that per shot fired? If he shot more than 6 shots in the stage with the laser on, then he just procedural'ed himself more in time penalties than an FTDR. I say FTDR myself.

  3. I wouldn't necessarily buy some professional instruction just yet. You might skate by for a little while just having a local A or B class shooter take you under his wing. If you happen to have some other local matches you can carpool to, you can sometimes learn more talking about shooting on the way up there and back than actually shooting the match. There are volumes of information here on this forum. Then there are few shooters's websites worth checking out. Then there is Steve Anderson's two dry fire books. The second one has about 80 pages dedicated to stuff it had taken me several years to figure out on my own through the school of hard knocks.

  4. Let's say you get done shooting a stage, it could be a medium sized field course or a long 32 rounder, and the RO is walking around scoring the targets and all you hear is "TWO, ALPHA! TWO ALPHA! TWO ALPHA TWO ALPHA! TWO ALPHA! ", then you're shooting too slow. I think the conventional wisdom here is to strive for 80 to 90% of the maximum available points. When you go to a match, you can take a notebook with you or just an index card, or you can wait to you can see the results posted to the web (just take the max points possible per stage and divide by 5, that is the minimum round count required to shoot that stage), your total raw time for the match (if there aren't a whole bunch of movers/swingers) you should be striving for, IMO, should be less than the minimum round count for the entire match. That might be a good rule of thumb to follow. Your HF is your points divided by time. Since time is in the denominator of the equation, how many seconds you shoot a stage has a huge, HUGE :surprise: effect on your HF. Sometimes it is downright amazing how spread out the results can be just based on one guy being 1 or 2 seconds slower or faster than another guy.

  5. In addition to NOT having a bull barrel and NOT having a FLDC, the gun in question has to weigh less than 43 ounces for ESP and 41 ounces in CDP (if it is chambered in .45 ACP). Also, the grip safety can't be pinned either, which is a fairly common occurance among USPSA 2011 type guns.

Just curious, for a .45 ACP 2011, how many rounds can you stuff into the gun for Limited?

In a way it would kind of interesting if say the .40 or the 10mm at major PF would be allowed back into CDP.

  6. In some states, you can be criminally responsible for failing to secure your truck's load. In other states, it is strictly a civil matter. There have been a few instances where sheets of ice have come off the top of tractor trailers and dang near decapitated the occupants in oncoming vehicles. Whatever that sign says on the back of the truck is BS. Look up the laws online in Ohio. Sending a nasty-gram email with a link or a cut and paste of the Ohio law might be enough to make them take those signs off the back of their trucks.

  7. But if WST is half as clean as WSF (just loaded a bunch of hot 115s with that to shoot LFI-1 with Massad Ayoob) then it might be worth a look. WSF is ridiculously clean.

Did you guy shoot LF1 as a student, Evan? Or did you go shoot it as an instructor? If as a student, why? I have seen your videos on YouTube. I wouldn't think you would need a class such as LF1.

  8. you 2 need to learn suspension of disbelief, i thought the movies was worth it but dont have any idea how they are going to tie in kyle and john knowing each other later on when kyle has to go back in time

in the first movie, Kyle says he was under John Connor's command from 2021 to 2027. I think this latest movie is set in 2018. So that means Kyle has about 9 more years to get to know John, which John has got to know Kyle Reese is his father, but that Kyle Reese doesn't necessarily know that John is his son. All this time travel stuff makes me

a T5 movie is in pre-production right now. I guess they are going to milk the Terminator franchise for all its worth.

  9. I have read every post here..and I can clearly see all opinions expressed

The one key..or Blessing here is the fact NO AD occured..every body went home in one piece!

I cant or wont argue any point here...but it all gives things to consider and lessons to be learned.

Bet we all pay a little more attention and take just a little more care

that reminds me Jim, I probably ought to do some research on which hospitals are close to the ranges I shoot at. If there is an AD/ND, I think that most if not all the EMT/ambulance crews would get lost on the way to the range. Not to mention that some of the ranges I can't get any cell phone signal. It might be a good idea to have mapquest print out directions from the range to the nearest hospital that can actually treat a bullet wound. It's scarey thinking what could have happened. :surprise:

  10. Liability.

if somebody's gun were to blow up because of a double charge of powder or squib thrown by that $3,000 camdex machine, who gets sued over it? Replacement cost of the gun, medical bills, lost work. If this was a well publicized civil matter, it might just get the attention of the ATF. No thanks!

So....for about 3 grand, you can have a fully automated 1050 and a bullet feeder?

How finicky is all of this stuff? I'd hate to drop that kind of cash and spend more time "fixing" things than reloading.

I have to say that looks pretty awesome!!

Chris, you have a mill. You can make a collator/feeder yourself. If you look around the internet enough, I am sure you will find enough pics or videos of them in action to engineer one on your own.

  11. So my buddies and I have this beer pool thing going on. For every mike it is a dollar thrown into the pool. fer ervey no shoot that gets hit its five dollars that gets thrown in. loking at soem of these major match results whey you click on their member numbers it takes you to a performance summary page. it really is a neat handy llittle chart. just why don't they totall everything going down the columsn? tanx!
