  1. Absolutely, it was so easy I’m thinking about a SBR PCC now lol. Holidays coming up suggest otherwise lol
  2. It was fast couldn’t believe it. I filed E-form on 10/22/21 and received my approval letter 11/4/21
  3. Just received my approval email today for my AR based SBR build. Is the NFA engraving of my name and city required on the lower receiver. My understanding is that it is not required unless I decide to sell. The original manufactures name (Aero) and serial # are adequate for identification purposes while it’s in my possession. Is this information correct or do I need to schedule and appointment with a shop to have it engraved? Thanks for the help.
  4. Thank you all for the replies and tips. Sounds like my IDPA start strategy will cross over to USPSA just fine.
  5. Thank you, and 11 in a loaded start stage correct?
  6. Reading the rule book just wanting to clarify a question about mag capacity in Production. This question pertains to loaded starts, the rule book says a max of 10 rounds in the mag after the start signal. I take this as I can actually load my first mag to 11 rounds, leaving only 10 in the mag after the load make ready signal. I’ve only played in IDPA so 10+1 starts is what I’m familiar with. I’ll be participating in my first USPSA match in a few weeks so just wanting to get some basic questions out of the way. Appreciate the help.
  7. Thanks, I’ll look that up. I’m all for something that would prevent me from making permanent mods to my pistol.
  8. Has anyone performed the silicon carbide grip treatment to a steel pistol frame. Yes I realize its a permanent modification and will severely affect the resale value, but this is a pistol that will remain in my possession as long as i'm alive. The pistol in question is a CZ SP-01 Shadow. I'm currently using a grip tape on the front and rear back straps, but the factory checkering does not leave must real estate for the adhesive to adhere to so I'm looking for a more permanent solution. This pistol is used in both IDPA and USPSA matches and during the summer months the frame can get slick with sweaty hands. The LOK grips have helped, but I'm looking for more grip especially on the front strap. I'm assuming the frame surface would need to be roughed up where I plan to apply the silicon carbide, and the slow setting JB Weld is the best adhesive for this application. Anything else I need to know or do before I reach the point of no return. Appreciate any help
  9. I really wish the 2 would get on the same page for production/SSP. I’m a USPSA member but have yet to shoot my first match, probably should do that and decide if I want to continue playing within the silly IDPA rules or invest my time into USPSA and stay at the club level IDPA.
  10. Well damn lol. Looks like I should have looked into that a little further.
  11. Thank you for the pictures, that’s exactly what I was trying to find on the net. I hope I was not told wrong about the 10x bushing, externally there was no difference from the stock bushing that I can remember. Something I will definitely research again. I believe as long as the trigger comes on a legal SSP pistol it’s good to go (kind of like a Glock 34 slide release on say a 17)
  12. Hello group. I shoot a SP-01 Shadow in SSP at club level only matches. Eventually when I get around to shooting a classifier I’ll step up in match levels so keeping this pistol 100% within the rules is priority. It’s current configuration is CGW disco, 10x bushing and some CGW springs. I’ve got trigger pull weights in both DA/SA exactly where I want them. My problem is the DA reach, I’d really like to shorten it slightly. CGW offers a reach reduction kit but it’s not legal for IDPA SSP. I’ve read about the 85c trigger, and most seem to like it but I can not find a side by side comparison of it to my Shadow trigger. My understanding is it has a less pronounced curve to it and in theory (at least in my tiny brain) this may reduce the pull length. Am I correct about this 85c trigger? Would this be my only legal option or is there something else I’ve possibly missed. Appreciate the help.
  13. Oh yes you are correct I forgot I even mentioned that thing. I have to dig it out and compare it to the DAA, there is something different because it does not work as well as my DAA has so far. Although the Uniquetek funnel is much better build quality.
  14. 9htc-ptu.html The standard one looks exactly like the DAA one in profile. My DAA expander started flaking off the plating within a few hundred rounds, so keep an eye on that. The only funnels I have used is the Dillion funnel and then the DAA funnel. And yes, the DAA funnel I received brand new out of the box already had the plating flaking off and wouldn’t even fit in my Dillon die body without some cleanup work. I contacted DAA about these issues, they said they are aware of them but didn’t offer anything further, kind of disappointed but it’s working now so I’ll just keep an eye on it.
  15. Sorry I failed to update this post. Purchased a DAA powder funnel and that helped in regards to getting the bullet to sit right in the case without having to over flair. Was still having set back issues so got a Lee U die and problem solved. I’ve sorted out the brass that does/does not require the u die but I’ve decided that if it’s range brass I’ll use the U die exclusively.
  16. Good to know. Can’t find the Lee u die in stock but the Redding is readily available. Redding makes no mention of under sizing, but you and a few others confirm that it does so I’ll go ahead and order it in the morning. I shall see what happens. Appreciate the reply
  17. I’m loading .356 diameter DG coated
  18. Alright group, if it’s not already obvious I’m new to reloading. Took many of your suggestions and pretty much I’m convinced it’s a mixture of the operator and range brass causing all these issues. On the operator side, I believe I’m using way too much force when checking for setback on my bench top. I found a factory loaded round and checked it using my method. Compressed the bullet right to the powder. From now on I think I’ll load a mag and chamber the rounds then remeasure. While still talking about the operator, I also believe too much flare was also used, based on the suggestions here I ordered a MBF funnel On to the range brass. Wow I had no idea wall thickness could vary as much as it does between head stamps. Would i be better off using a U die exclusively if I’m going to continue using range brass?
  19. I want to thank everyone for all the suggestions and tips. I’ve got some good advice on things to check when I get home and will report what I find. I also want to add that I did reach out to Mighty Armory via email. Wayne has been great offering much of the same advice you all have offered here as well.
  20. I have a powder funnel that I believe is similar to the Mr. Bullet feeder made by Uniquetek. Makes for very easy bullet seating but neck tension is absolutely gone so it’s back in the package under my bench. I may go back and look at the Mr. Bullet funnel again. Sizing dies are kind of hard to find right now, what others do you suggest besides the U die?
  21. Yes, I had to buy all my dies individually. It seems the sizing die is what’s causing the massive back order for Dillion.
  22. That’s something else I need to do, and will do so tomorrow after work. Trust me, I’m not bragging about how much I paid for the sizing die, it’s just the only one I could find in stock.
  23. Both MA sizing dies I have are the TNT gold match dies that were bought this year, the one I’m currently using was purchased just a few weeks ago. I’m glad you posted that quote from their web site, that’s something I don’t understand how to adjust for the bullet. The only instructions I received were to screw the die down until it contacts the shell plate and lock it down. No other instructions on the web site either. As far as the Lee FCD, I agree with you on that. I tried one out on my 550 and was not happy with the results. Went back to the Dillion crimp die on that machine.
  24. Got it, I’ll give that a try tomorrow and report back. Really appreciate your help with this.
